First Obama was totally wrong in commenting on a local issue with the arrest of gates. He lies when he says he does not know anything about the issue, then proceeds to say the police acted stupidly. Then Obama refuses to apologize, but after it comes out there is audio of the whole exchange that backs everything the police officer said, he gives kind of an apology due to the back lash and reaction by police and individuals across the country.
Now ... Obama invites Gates to the whitehouse for a beer. What is a matter with this guy ... he is suppose to be president of the US ... why is he involving himself in a local issue this way. How come others that have been arrested by the police have not gotten an invite to the whitehouse for a beer.
Obama is making a non event in to a race issue. Friends or not, he should have separated himself from it and allowed it to be handled where it belongs ... with the local police enforcement.

I agree 100% that Obama should never have gotten involved in this issue. But once it blew up in his face, he needed to find a way to put an end to it, so he has invited both Gates and Officer Crowley to the White House to have a beer and a discussion. I think that will end it for Obama. Another political misstep.

WW, we totally agree for once!!
You know, we actually had a similar thing happen at our house in VA. Our garage door malfunctioned and stayed open and the light was flashing. Our neighbor, trying to be helpful, walked into the house, but set off the motion detectors. So when Feb arrived home, he found police in our house with guns drawn. They questioned him being there, he said he was the homeowner, poduced ID and they put away their guns and the whole thing was over. Feb didn't think he was being profiled, no one called a press conference. We weren't even upset with our neighbor for setting off the alarm system.
I think the police were totally right in what they did with Gates. He got rowdy and nasty, and they secured him. Obama was out of his mind to comment. This was not a racial issue, it is a behavioral issue.

If the prof had simply, calmly stated he was the owner, and produced id, this incident would be a non incident. Seems the only racial prejudice here is his accusing the cop of profiling. Course, that's not PC today. Whole incident is disgusting, including Obama getting into the act. And that is the most disturbing aspect of this. If that is how our Commander in Chief operates, making decisions based upon partial evidence and preconceived notions, the world is at major risk.
