Once people found out that they could break the law, refuse law enforcements requests, claim racism and sue the city for millions and get paid, there was no longer a reason to have any respect for law enforcement. It's not just in NYC, but in all the cities and quite a few suburbs. I honestly don't know why anyone wants to work in law enforcement anymore. The pay isn't great, the hours suck, the risk are so many and they don't get any respect.
Violence against law enforcement is a very scary trend everywhere these days. You can be writing a report in your car and die at the hand of someone with a grudge.
