Take a look at the pictures John Coley posted on his site oof the re-construction of the Little Steel Bridge. What I would like everyone to check out is the fine siltation and erosion measures that are evident on this job site. NOT

I can't help comment on this one. Why would the state build an expensive bridge to give one property owner access to the lake. I wish I could get them to work on my property for free! Heck, i wish they would repair the road to my house!

You have got to figure the guy that built that nice house on the other side had some "real" pull somewhere. Then last year, he built that big, nice boathouse. He had to know what was going to happen. As the ole saying goes, "It's not what you know but who you know". Now someone can sell a few more lots over on that side.

Does this mean that I can go fishing back in that creek now? I actually made it through the old culvert pipe once, but there wasn't enough water back there to do any good fishing, though. I think that one of my brothers and I had to let water in the boat in order to squeeze through.

8 - I would have liked to get closer for the pics, but there was red mud on the pavement in the road, it had just rained, and it was slicker than owl poop.

If you look in the last picture there is on the right side the remains of a silt fence. It also appears they're in the middle of rebuilding the banks up to the abutments, now how would they do that without getting dirt in the lake?

One more thing, there is new rip-rap all over the banks, even on the area that is next to one of the abutments, wonder why they did that?

The way I understand it is that the guy's wife works for the state and knew way before that plans were in the works to replace the bridge so they jumped on the land when they had the chance a couple of years ago.

As a private real estate developer I can guarantee you I would be held to a higher standard than what is represented by these photos. Your comment that there are the "remains of a silt fence" really is the meat of the coconut.

One thing to remember-The "Little Steel Bridge" has been a big steel culvert pipe for many years. It also sagged in the middle, which explains my previous post about the difficulty in getting even a small jonboat to the other side. I don't think that I would want a house in that location, however. It is a swamp when the lake is full, but it gets landlocked very quickly.
