So now Weiner comes clean and admits he has been forwarding provocative pictures to women he met on the internet and one woman is claiming that he called her from his office phone and they "talked dirty". He says he isn't going to resign and that his marriage is okay -- so what will come first -- his wife dumping him or he resigns?
Very sad. I'm wondering why it is that men in public office seem to enjoy exposing themselves to unknown women and how common is it among the general population?
And then there is Palin. She clearly hasn't a clue about American history. And she smiles as she tries to justify her ignorance. Some of her supporters are trying to change Wikipedia to reflect her version of history.
My word, is this what we have come to as a nation?

Here's the rub with what Palin said. She was historically accurate as Paul Revere did in fact also warn the British. However, I think she just was lucky in that historical fact and misspoke. However Hound, you are not in a position to condemn her for that because you voted for Obama with his many gaffes, not the least of which was claiming to have visited all 57 states. You need to find another justification for your opposition of Palin lest you risk being a hypocrite.
And just for the record, I would not vote for Palin in the primary over the likes of Pawlenty, Romney, Santorum, etc. I like her and we agree on most issues but she would not be my first or even second choice. However, if she were the nominee I would support her 110% because she would be far better as President than the Messiah. But then so would about 25% of the population....
As for Weiner, his personal failings are disgusting but the serial lies and attempts to claim Breitbart was the hacker of the tweets is the reason he should resign. And you can expect his wife to dump his miserable butt once he is drummed out of Congress. However, if history informs us well Dems will circle the wagon and this will enhance his resume. The list of other Dems who have done much worse and are still in Congress is long. They simply have no values or principals upon which to rely to do the right thing.

Sometime I think you would defend a skunk if it claimed to be a Republican.
This particular gaffe of Palin's is just one in a long list of inaccuracies and misinformation that she has stated. Why can't you just admit she is not an intelligent person. her inadequacies have nothing to to with Obama. And making comparisons about "who is worse" is just pointless. Any intelligent person can see that Palin is ignorant. She goes on half truths and misinformation and makes proclamations that are truly senseless, and when people call her on them, she goes on the offensive.
I'm disgusted by Weiner, regardless of his political party. I don't think you'll see anyone circling any wagons to protect him or is their any need to "persecute" him, because decent people will be disgusted by his actions.
You will notice that I'm not defending Obama. He's finished in my mind and I'm just hoping that we can find someone to be President who is not ignorant or lacking in judgement. H_Hob is right. It makes me sad too to think that I served my government all those years. I once thought that Clinton was as bad as it could get.

(sorry I couldn't resist)
I thought his repentance was sincere in the press conference including the apology to Breitbart. Now I think he is a not so closeted socialist and I wouldn't vote for him for dogcatcher I would probably forgive him because of his contrition. I"m sure there will be consequences in his personal life too. Don't Muslims frown on that sort of thing?

You served the greatest, most generous and most moral nation on earth. I'm not sure we'll be able to claim that title soon but I don't see anything better. We started out with God given laws but men will meddle and try to turn everything black & white to gray to suit their interests. It's just our nature.

Got to say I have a hard time seeing how his apology was sincere considering his lying was sincere last week. A creature of opportunity and no more.

Are you kidding me? Seems everybody is much more sincere when they are caught in a lie. Watching him last week lying his arse off, in a very agressive manner, and this week apologizing, makes me want to puke.... then refusing to step down...Regardless of party affiliation, what he did is sickening and perverted. The sad thing is if he makes it to the next elections, I'm sure he will be re-elected.

The WJC school of politics and election strategy. Do wrong, Deny, Admit and Cry when caught, Say you are serving the public good, Be re-elected if you are a democrat.
If you are Republican it goes slightly different: Do wrong, Deny, Admit, Cry and Resign.

Talk radio today (Rush L.) commented that this was not a gaffe by Palin and she was correct. Historians confirmed the accuracy of Palin's statements. Paul R. did talk with the British after his capture. Does anyone on this forum have information to refute what Rush said? Palin is not Dan Quayle (spelling champ) and the media has this woman in their sights. Palin could raise someone from the dead and the media and one or two on this forum would still slam Palin. Don't burden us with facts. .
I do not want Palin as President but I would take Palin in 2012 over this clown that's currently there.

Here are the facts for you to consider or ignore. Your choice. Paul Revere did in fact warn the British. Look it up. I said she misspoke but as we learn more I think her response is entirely defensible and you might want to pay attention and you too will learn something. She went into the the Paul Revere house as part of her bus tour. Upon leaving she was asked by a reporter what she learned. Her response was that Paul Revere warned the British. She was historically correct and that is what she learned. Had I gone in there and heard that factoid and was asked' "What did you learn?" I very well may have given the exact same answer because I did not know that about Paul Revere? Did you?
But if you want to nitpick about something so irrelevant while the stock market plunges, we learn that every single household in the country has an over $500,000 liability for federal unfunded entitlements (doesn't even begin to touch the state and local unfunded liabilities, housing prices dropped more than during the Great Depression, long-term unemployment is worse than the Great Depression, our national debt continues to skyrocket, the country loses billions in their investment in the car companies and on and on and on you go right ahead. I am way more interested in anyone replacing the complete abject failure of a President that you voted for. Considering your electoral choices I think I will take my advice on Palin's qualifications from others who have better judgment.

Hey MM
First, I did not vote for Obama. Second, I want change that is 180 degrees opposite from that of Obama and I want it soon Third, Palin is not stupid - She is not my choice for President Fourth, I am not recommending anyone for 2012 Fifth, I still would vote for Palin if she is the Repub candidate before Obama Sixth, You have the privilege of voting for the candidate of your choice.

He should resign. He has brought disgrace on the office he holds.
Women generally don't expose themselves via the internet or their iphones with men they hardly know, unless they are in the trade. However, sometimes they allow themselves to be video taped in compromising positions with men they do know. But not female public figures - at least so far.
MM, you will never convince me about Palin. So stop beating me over the head about her.
I can recognize ignorance and a total lack of class when I see it, and your attempts to justify her ignorance is making me think poorly of you. And I don't want to do that.
Yes, I know you hate Obama, and you disapprove that voted for him. Live with it.
We finally got rid of Glenn Beck, so you don't have to stand in for him.

I really do not understand the animus that Palin evokes from otherwise seeming intelligent women.. I don't for a second think she is stupid, lazy or wrong on the issues.. She is accomplished, has done things that few of us have done and is comfortable in her skin, as far as I can see.. Yet she brings out pure hatred from people like Hound.. I just do not understand.. Is she my first choice for a candidate?? Nope, precisely because of the reaction she gets from people like hound.. Probably unelectable.. whatever

I'll say it again. I just don't understand the vitriol for Palin. Jealousy perhaps? Let's face it. She will probably not run and, if she does, will not get the nomination so, why all the panic and hateful words Hound. If you really think she is ignorant, that says more about your intellect than hers.
