For a Trumpster this is Bad. For the good guys this is Good. Even I was shocked as Alaska has been a Red state like forever.
Democrat Mary Peltola has defeated Republican Sarah Palin in the special election for Alaska’s vacant House seat, a big upset over the former governor in the state’s first election under ranked-choice voting.
This was a special election to replace Rep Young who recently died. They will face each other again in Noveember. It looks like Dem's best offense is to hope Trump's candidates win in the primary.

The Democrat won because of stupid and confusing ranked choice voting. In the first primary round with 22 candidates the total number of votes for the eventual winner was 10% and Palin had the highest total at around 27%. In the next round there were three candidates, one Dem and two Republicans. The eventual winner got 37%, the two Republicans got 56% of the vote. Unfortunately and likely because it is so confusing over 11,000 of the the third place votes for a Republican did not have a second choice so the Democrat tipped over 50%. Had all the third choice votes picked a second and the ratio of his votes were allocated to Palin and the Dem similar to the ones that did have a second choice vote then Palin would have won. I know math, logic and reason are hard for you but expect ranked choice voting, the worst idea ever, to be repealed in Alaska because a strong majority of them wanted to be rep'd by a Republican. She will be in office exactly two years.
But please do take the leftist govt media approach and take this as a harbinger of the mid-terms and Trump backed candidates.

This was aspecial election. The term expires this cycle so they both will be on the ballot again in November is what I read. It made me wonder why a special election so close to a general election bafffled me. Huge waste of money IMO. Ranked choice is absolute insanity and seems designed for fraud.

That does sound silly if they are going to have it happen again in November. Does that mean another jungle primary? When will that happen so they can decide on the top three for the general election? Ranked choice voting isn't so much a fraud issue as it is utterly confusing to voters and as we saw here can subvert their will. The question is whether the voters in Alaska will make the same mistake.....not picking a second choice....that they did in this one.
