On December 13, 2008, junk scientist Al Gore predicted the North Polar Ice Cap would be completely ice-free in five years.
And the global warming hysteria began.

Its all BS - just look at how many current and former politicans have beach front homes. If it was real they would not by buying mansions to live in for just a few years at top dollar to watch them become scuba attactions.

Funny, last night I was scientists talking about the new Webb telescope and how much they hope it will help them figure out the Universe. It's not the first time that I have heard these sentiments about how little we know about the Universe and Universes beyond ours and how they relate to each other. So then you have a few scientists in the US latch onto this theory of Al Gore's about global warming and come up with a hypothsis about what is causing it. Theyve changed into a cause celebe and embrassed it. But the truth is that while there is global warming, no one knows why for sure.
Did Al Gore also "invent" the internet?

He has become immensely wealthy as a result of this scam. He has gazillionares flying around the world in their private jets attending Globaloney conferences and telling poor people they need to die of starvation or freeze to death to "save the planet". Then they attend fabulous luncheons and dinners and congratulate each other on how benevolent they are.
In my opinion, they are trying to insulate themselves from the mobs they are creating. I should pay more in taxes...while they hire the best lawyers and accountants to prevent that. Guns should be banned and police defunded......while being surrounded by armed guards. Climate change is gonna kill us all....said from one of their many 30K square foot mansions that they flew to in private jets surrounded by armed guards driving their SUVs. Don't kill me! I'm on your side! I suggest they look at the French revolutions so they understand what happens to their type when the mobs are loosed.

At the corner of Wilson Blvd and North Oak Street in Rosslyn (Arlington) Virginia is one of those historical marker signs that describes how the Advanced Research Projects Ageny (ARPA) built the first packet switched network that they named the ARPANET in that very building. It was there that the internet was born. Al Gore didn't have Jack Schitt to do with it.
A picture of that sign is attached. You might note that the time span for ARPANET development was 1970-1975. Richard Nixon was President...the first Democrat President in the 70s was Jimmy Carter in 1977. His VP was Fritz Mondale. Gore is a consummate fraud.

Built one in High School for a history project, it was small - would fit maybe Star Wars figures and the blade was blunt so as not to cause issues with the school. Neat project and easy to build.

Reminds me of a good engineer joke. A priest, a politician and an engineer were condemned to death by guillotine. As they approached the device the priest offered to go first and said the following prayer, "Oh Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner!" They placed him in the dock looking up at the blade, pulled the lever and the blade came hurtling down and miraculously stopped just short of his neck. Everyone was so amazed that they decided to let the priest live.
Then the politician was called forward. He was thinking to himself that he didn't even believe in God and had never prayed in his life but if it worked for some stinking priest it ought to work for him so he called out loudly, "Oh Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner!" Placed in the dock looking upward at the blade as it came sliding down and once again it stopped short and the politician was spared.
Next came the engineer and he too decided to follow suit and yelled out, "Oh Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner!" In the dock he goes and as with the others it stopped just short of his neck. Looking up at the guillotine he said, "Hey, I can fix that."

In the old days it was better to go first as the blade would dull with high usage and sometimes not cause the head to be removed properly.

I was really only joking. Al Gore isn't smart enough to invent anything,, although if you recall he implied that he "invented" the internet. The only thing Al Gore was smart enough to do was ride his father's coattails into politics.
I always find it so amusing that so many people have embraced the idea that climate change is tied to pollution- they have created an entire industry and now trying to impose major changes via legislation for a therory that hasn't been proved. It's a hypothesis.
But thanks for the insight about ARPA and the internet.

Speaking of engineers, this morning I read an article about a study was done to determine if Rocket scientists were really smarter than the average person. The study found that they are not. I had a PhD that worked for me, and he was an "rocket scientist", had a poster in his office that said "why yes, I am a rocket scientist" and believed he was of superior interllect. But the guy had no common sense and couldn't manage to save his life. He had been an AF Colonel, in charge of some AF scientific center. We used to speculate that he must have had a really great staff, to keep him on track. I don't know when I have actually met someone with less common sense.

Heh..my brother in law also was a rocket scientist. Worked for Raytheon in Dallas and designed inertial navigation systems for ICBMs. Used to show me an entire notebook filled with his equations for something he was designing. While he didn't lack in common sense he did have the personality of a small soap dish and was probably the cheapest person I ever met. But my sister has stuck with him for almost 50 years so what can I say. They are preppers and live in Wyoming somewhere. I think they keep tin foil over their heads to keep the govt from reading their thought......hmmmmm, maybe they aren't so crazy.

Another interesting factoid is that some foks now belive that since the brain can live for several minutes without oxygen that it is qutie possible that the last thing the decapitated person saw would be blood spruting out of their neck. NO way to know for sure but I found it plausible and interesting.
It was also common practice to tip the executioner to try to ensure a good clean swing when using an axe for the beheading.

And I was responding to that same "inference" from him that he invented the internet. I had heard that before and had to laugh when I went to work up there in 2015 and saw that sign (my office was across the street at 1501 Wilson Blvd.).
There is no doubt that humans are responsible for "greenhouse gasses" being put into the atmosphere...but does it really make an appreciable difference? I am not convinced, especially with all the other naturally occurring sources, and am especially dubious of the machinations we are going through while China, Russia, and other pollute away. IF the threat is real the only effective solution would be a global one.
