Do I have to pull in my fenders on the pontoon, if they are the type, which clip under the pontoon deck and do not fly in the wind or do I have to pull these aboard as well?

Want to make sure I am showing the proper etiquette when boating.

It's all show for the Tallyman. If ya ain't lookin' good ya ain't doing good. And be sure to tie that boat to the cleat real pretty too. LOL

You guys are pretty tough on eachother! Any room for a newbie around here!!:))

No seriously, after getting splashed in the face quite a bit, I realized that the fenders need to be pulled in! Go easy on me on that one, I'm a lady.;)

Now, proper cleating.....that may take me a while!

I have enjoyed the information on the forum!!! Thanks!!

Don't tell the Talleyman, but I don't let my fenders hang out either.

Welcome aboard -- most is in jest!!

Welcome newbie. Nice to have something new to chew on. Just joking. We are pretty much a good group of people who have little squabbles here and there. We get along pretty well since we all love a certain aspect of life. Keep posting. We all learn from one another.

Thanks feb.:)) Not sure what could be learned about the lake from me, but if there is a LM bug, I think I've been bitten! We are in the process of building. Our house will not be finished in time for this season, but there is always next season!

Looking forward to fun times on the lake!

fenders are to be used at your dock only... they serve no purpose while the boat is in motion! THAT IS A FACT!

It'll be a cold day in August in Alabama when I untie my bumbers on my old pontoon boat to putt putt around. I always pulled them in on the ski boat.

Maby I need to find or devise a quick-connect for bumpers.

Do they make such a device?

Of course Maverick has an excuse. Mavericks never conform! That is why we like them.

Heck, I'm pretty much a newbie too, so "hello there"! (or, ahoy or something). Oh, and I'm a lady, lol.

Until I read this thread I never realized it was a source of contention about having my bumpers hang out (yes, I'm sure there is a joke in this statement also)! Taking the bumpers off a pontoon boat every time I go out on the lake is tiresome.

Don't ya'll have a 'get out of jail free card' or an Etiquette Pass for some of us that haven't been around too long??

At least now I know why all these people are passing me, laughing and pointing...and all this time I thought it was ME they were pointing at! <grin>

If they are laughing and pointing at you because your bumpers are hanging out, what does that tell us about your bumpers?

Yes. Called a fender something or other. You can get them at the local marinas, although they seem a little overpriced. It is a rounghly 2 1/2 inch metal thing you screw to your railing (drilling 2 small holes is required) or deck and a plastic eye that snaps into the metal part. Tie your bumper/fender lines to the plastic eye and the bumper can be easily removed by sliding the eye out of the metal part. I put them on both sides of my pontoon so I could put the bumpers on either side of the boat, which comes in handy when stopping at some marinas. Now if they just had something to make me remember to pull the bumpers in!

My bumpers are new and very pretty, thank you for asking. Hate to offend the bumper police at LM, but I'm not removing my bumpers to tour around the lake. Nuh Uh - No Way!

Don't bother pulling them in. That way, they will occasionally fall off (and I'll bet you won't notice until you get back to your dock)and I will find them........must have found about a half dozen over the last few years. My kids call it "A Gift From the Lake." I especially like it when people lose the really big ones!!!!

It is funny. Yesterday she wanted more juice in her sippy cup so my husband was fixing it while I was driving. She took the cup and held it over the railings, she was trying to dump out what was still in the cup. Her favorite thing to do at the lake besides ride and "ice scream" is to "ish" (fish) and she uses one of the ropes from the boat when it is tied up.

I'll probably have it running through my head the rest of the day. Cool.

My band played a little more on the rock side - Cream, Steppenwolf, etc. - had a Fender Jazz bass that was awesome.

My first band was named "Lester P. Suggins Memorial Slimey Muddy River Bottom Band" - played the scrub board for that one.

It is very evident that we must have bumper control on the lake. With all the fenders hanging out and the bumpers bouncing up and down and all around the fenders are going to get dented. We will have to form a fender and bumper patrol or maybe a posse to police the situation. We must not have loose bumpers flying and floating all over the lake because someone is going to get hurt. Like the bouys that have broken loose we must use extreme caution when navigating the lake especially since the water is is dropping to winter pool. You never know when you might run up on a loose bumper. Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men, the Shadow knows. HEHEEHAHAHAHAHEHAHEHA.................................

Lakeman, we must organize. I nonimate you for president of this organization. We will need a source of income. I suggest we cut all of the hanging bumpers and collect all of the loose bouys and sell them back to the poor souls. I will cut mine first and buy mine back because I will need to be paid at least 1 Budweiser per hour to police my area...(I'll drink slowly).

Sure, I let my bumpers hang out on occasion... Don't everyone? I guess not. Sometimes I just squeeze them between the hull and the handrail, or sometime just sit them on the coxswain flat. Either way, I try to keep them away from the jackstaff, wouldn't want them impairing my vision!
