My family has seen several of these on the Lake and have asked me to buy one. Any advice on type, size, brand where to buy etc?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Also if you have one, how much do you use it and how fun is it?

Just got one from Sam's. Will have info on durability after the eight grandchildren spend next week with us.

Have one.  Mostly use when there is a group(6+)  here.  Don't usually pull it out for just us four.   Saves enough on boat gas to pay for itself.  Teenagers hang out and play king of the hill.  Little ones run back and forth for hours.  I got mine from Russell at end of year sale.  Btw, tether doesn't work in high wind or rough water. Tie down will come loose and blow away!

We also purchased the Maui Mat brand from Russell on sale around Christmas. I believe it's 6x18 or there abouts. I suspect it's thicker than the ones at Sam's, but not sure. We have ours anchored to a 5 gal bucket which contains a concrete block in about 8' of water and this seems to work fine. We've not had any issues at all with wind or waves. The bucket also has a float tethered to it so that we can locate it to attach the mat. Grands love it and spend all afternoon running and jumping off of the thing. Seems to be well made although it's a bit of a challenge rolling it up and storing. Worth the effort, however, and would buy again.

Maui Mat.. Bought it at Kowaliga Marina.  Agree with the kids loving it. from ages 4-18  mine used it all weekend and kept them busy all day between boat rides. Plus they delivered. 500 bucks

Have a lilly pad.  Weighs 40#. Fun and very easy to store.  6x18.  500 bucks.  I would not have anything else.  Not for sale.  Just giving info.

I got mine at Sam's in Montomery. They had them in stock twice but I doubt they will get anymore in since they are a seasonal item. I paid $279.00 for mine. I looked at Blue Creek Marina and they had two[one was about $450.00 and the other one was about $535.00]. I didn't see much difference between theirs and the one at Sam's[especially when you compare prices]. The grandkids love it and adults like it too. I got on it last weekend and it is a lot of fun. I used a big concrete block on  the bottom to anchor it. Haven't had any problems with the waves but I can see where a big wind might get under it and lift it up in the air when no one is on it. We haven't had any problems with it so far. Like others have said, the kids really like it in between boat rides, tubing, riding the watercraft, and the like. I don't see the rolling it up and the storage as a big problem.

Word of caution.  It may be a little extra work but I highly recommend that you store you matt during the week rather than leaving it in the water. It will last for many seasons because it will deteriorate from the suv ray's from the sun, and also if you leave it in the water for a long period of time it will build up a slime on the bottom which must be scrubbed off. .which is no fun. Also be cautious of larger dogs with sharp an long claws. Other than that it is lots of fun.

I bought one last summer.   It was O'brien from Harbor Pointe Marina.  Like others have said, all young visitors from 3 - 18 enjoyed it and spent hours on it.  The O'brien held up great and still is working fine again this season.  My wife liked it so much that she thought we needed another and bought the $279 one from Sam's.  We have not used it and not really sure we need it.  If you are looking for that one, shoot me an e-mail at aupops@charter.net and I will let you know if she is willing to sell for what she paid for it.  Again, it is unopened, never used.
