Fan belt broke yesterday on 2003 Bryant 200 with 5.0 Mercruiser.  What size belt do I need?  Any tricks to it?

Bigger question is why did it break? Do all the pulleys turn easily, except the crank and sea pump pulleys obviously. Make sure the sea pump isn't locked up with impeller blades, it should turn with minor effort. As far as belt length, Merc did a great job of not stating belt length so we can sometimes cross the number stamped on the belt, you can measure the outside length with a tape, or get a replacement belt from Merc

I did turn the alternator and power steering pulleys.  Not sure what a sea pump is.

In a closed cooling system it would be your water pump.

I had answered this yesterday, but I guess there was a computer glitch because it posted my response 10 times and now its gone. Anyways, if you have a Bravo 1 or a Bravo three your sea pump will be engine mounted, will be the lowest right pulley. If the boat is an Alpha you wont have an engine mounted sea pump. The Sea pump is what brings the water from the lake to and through the engine, its what has your impeller inside.

I called Brech Marine in Selma, where I bought the boat.  They ordered me a new belt.  Hopefully it was just time for the belt to break and not anything more serious.  Thanks for the help.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

New belt on.  Now I have another marketable skill.
Ordered a backup belt also.
