I'm taking a survey. I have discovered that this lake is rather large...

My 'toon is pretty great for cruising but not so good for exploring. Now a runabout is great for exploring but not so good for cruising. I have also noticed that more than a few folks have a toon and a runabout -one solution but a pain to maintain.

What about a deck boat? The obvious attempt to combine the cruiser with the speed of a runabout. Does it actually work for both uses? Or would a higher powered toon make sense?

How bad is this lake on the bottom of a fiberglass hull?

Deck boats sink to easy, I think you would be better off with a faster Pontoon.

RR,

Gotta be a two-boat family - that way you get to lug twice as much gas down the hill!!

Just kidding - I have a center console fishing boat that I had at the gulf and have brought it back. It will be good for cruising with the wife and pulling skiers, etc. When my dock is finished it will be there until next winter. Expect the house to be complete in about one year. When the house is finished I will purchase a triple toon pontoon boat and hang a big ole motor on it. That way I can cruise with lots of folks but hurry home once we are ready.

This will be our third Lake Martin place and I have always had 2 or more boats. Only difference this time is there will be no PWC's.

Welll...been here a long time ...have had runabouts and pontoons. at the same time..now...For long hauls a runabout is great..gives some protection from wind and weather...but if all you want is faster...then get a tritoon and hang at least a 115 4 stroke on it...and probably larger...I now have a 24ft Harris with a 115 4 stroke and it will do about 28 or so loaded (10 folks)...but.. alot of wind at that speed...my old cobalt would do it real good to Sinclairs...not a hair out of place...but...got tired of maintianing so many (and toting all that gas)....

Thank you Earl, I hadn't thought of that......

I think maybe i should test drive one of those tri-tooners and see if that does it - although getting to haul more gas down to the dock does have a certain appeal..... :-)

You can still haul gas with a tritoon...get an outboard 4 stroke...and can use it thru the year...no winterization to speak of except putting some Stabil in the gas..
