What do y'all think about Nick's Smokehouse? Ate there once and was totally unimpressed. Thought it would be like a barbeque place where you could get sammiches and stuff. $42 later, I figured I was wrong. By the way, the $42 was for my wife and I and included the tip... no alcohol. What do y'all think? Talked to 2 other people who liked it.

$42 for your wife? Don't you feed her at home?
I had lunch there and ordered the brisket. Don't. It was sliced thinly and if you know how to properly BBQ brisket that should be impossible. Brioche bun was just right for BBQ though. The sides & service were good. I actually thought the prices were pretty average for an upscale BBQ place. I liked the menu and I didn't write it off because they couldn't execute brisket - not many BBQ joints can. There is no decent BBQ joint at LM so I'm still hoping.

I ate there twice, the first time I split the mixed plate for 2. I thought it was good and the portion was extremely large. We took more than half of it home. $26 which seemed cheap The ribs were not as good as Archibald's(Tuscaloosa and better than Dreamland) and the brisket was not as good as Angelo's (fort worth). Having said that, everything was better than 95% of the Barbeque you can get around here.
The second time I got the salmon $16. It was good but not the best I have ever had.
Both times the service was good, the servers were pleasant, and the young black dude who is some type of manager did an excellent job.
I will go about 3 times a month.

My wife got the Salmon. Awful, dry, no flavor however, I must admit, my Salmon on the grill is better than anywhere in the world so, it was bound to be a letdown. Jes sayin.

99% of fish cooked in a restaurant is over cooked--not talking 'bout fried catfish here!

Went there for the first time last weekend. It was ok but not in my top 20.
The ribs were VERY over done and tough. You would think a BBQ place would have fall off the bone. These were more tear off the bone.
Also, I agree, the 2 BBQ sauces were pretty plain and they should have more choices.
You do get a lot of food on the combo platter.
Probably will go back at some point but won't be any time soon.

I think they are still getting used to their smoker or they are running it through to high & fast. In my book you need a real pit not a fancy-schmancy electronic smoker thingy.

Judy's Stagecoach used to have good fried catfish and great shrimp--haven't tried Burt's yet. Went recently with friends to a catfish place between New Site and AC, on Hwy 22, that had very good catfish, can't remember the name,
