I am looking for two things, separately, and not sure either exist. If you have any advice about who I could call I would appreciate it. I'm looking for 1) someone who owns a condo but does not use their boat slip and would let me rent it; and, 2) an unrestricted lot on Lake Martin (do those still exist?) Thanks!

What do you mean by unrestricted lot?

To me one meaning of that term is that you can have a covered boathouse if you so desire. Moost of the Russell developements have a restriction against covered boathouses. Usually to protect views of others.

Can't answer the first question but with the second:
2. As previous posters said, depends what you mean by restricted. If you mean no minimum square footage requirements or architectural board approval, then, yes, there are many,.
If you mean # of dwellings or types (home or condo) then the answer is yes but there are very few of them out there.
If you mean restricted about how close you can build to the lake, or other homes or other lots, then I would say practically no, the Counties and Alabama Power will require that you follow their codes.
Just depends.

You got it, wix! I'm one of those old-fashioned people who believes in buying only what you can pay for and afford. Right now I can afford a nice lot. When I retire and sell my city house, I can build a nice lakehouse for retirement. In the meantime, I would like to be able to use the lot for camping, rv hookup, small apartment over a boathouse, or however I can enjoy it that would still look nice and be respectful to my neighbors.

maybe you should attend the property auction next friday at the Dadeville Courthouse. Beautiful gently sloping deeded lot (.88 acre/188' lakefront with existing pier and small concrete block boathouse) near Blue Creek. Existing 800 s.f. cabin (so you wouldn't have to sleep on the ground). Totally unrestricted.
