...sounds like you got off pretty easy. A great many waterfront parcels were doubled.

My property tax went from $709 a year when I had a cabin to $1216 when there was no vertical construction on the property. (I had the old cabin donated to the local Fire Department). Nothing changed other than the removal of the house to a lot with a pier. I am stil tyring to figure it out while I file an attempted appeal. It does not seem like Coosa County sends out re-appraisal statements (in June) which can be appealed within 60 days to only sending out bills (in October) which can not be appealed. Then they never send out the re-appraisal statement. Catch 22.

They think they are so smart.

Which county? My Coosa taxes stayed the same as last year. But last year they jumped more than 40%.

I know. MIne did too last year. This has me totally confused as to why the big jump when it should of gone down. They must of anticipated my new place being completed. LOL

Thanks for the heads up - hopefully the below link will work.

The other one's URL was cut off and the URL title was changed. I have been having a hard time posting URLs on this board for some reason lately.

Thank You John, It is difficult to submitt an appeal in a timely manner if you never receive a copy of the County assessment. Generally it is too late when the bill show up in your mailbox.

You lower my property tax bill in Tallapoosa County after last years 60% increase and I will buy you Slim Jims equal to 25% of the reduction.

John C has a new business Contingency Property Tax Appeal Services paid in Slim Jims and therefore not reportable income.

Sorry John as a CPA I have to advise you all such serivces renderned in exchange for payment in Slim Jims will have to be reported on your tax return at the fair value of all Slim Jims received. - LOL

Good article as usual John.

Ha! I think if someone paid me enough in Slim Jims to warrant a 1099, I would die of high cholesterol before it was time to file my next return.

Thanks for the kind words. I am always on the lookout for good subject matter. Some of you have emailed me and called with suggestions, so keep 'em coming. I would like to try and cover topics of interest.
