I went to Harbor Freight yesterday and bought a battery float charger for $3.99 with coupon. This "charger" consists of an AC Adapter (15volt transformer) connected to a battery float charger (about 2"x2"x1") which is connected to the battery clips. The instructions state: intended for the maintenance of flooded (wet) or lead acid (gel-cell) battery. It also states it is for storing fully charged batteries over long periods (the box reads "Store your battery forever") My question is, does anybody have any experience with something like this? It seams too cheap and simple to be true.

I have used/owned/installed lots of battery tenders/low amp chargers. They are not really meant to bring a battery back from the dead, but usually maintain a batteries full charge status. From my experience, batteries don't like to go completely dead and if they have some age some don't/will not return to a full charge state. $3.99 sounds cheap! Usually, for a nice charger/tender you will pay $30+. Harbor Frieght has some cheap stuff, but I will have to admit...Usually it works as advertised. I bought a $49 solar charger for my pontoon boat in the pond, and it worked for about 3 years. Good luck. Sorry for the long post. Now, go hook it up and keep us posted... : )

The CAT is located in Pratville. But, his motto seems to be:
Have tool Will travel
His web site is below. I have followed Cat on the forum and he comes across as knowledgeable, fair, and honest. You can't ask for anything more. He makes dock calls.

Let's see. "Has tool, will travel" and "makes dock calls". Getting pretty close to the edge........

I have one of these "trickle" chargers on all my cranking batteries. They have kept them all charged over the winter. This is my second year using these with no problems. Good Luck!!
