Anybody know where I can buy bulk cracked pecans in the lake Martin area? Maybe a gas station/local market/ wholesaler or whatever. The question also applies to the Birmingham area.
I ordered only 10 pounds of cracked "Desirables" this year, and it already looks short.
Thanks, Mack

There's a place on 280 going east out of Dadeville. It's a metal building on the right side of the road with the word "Pecan" on the front. I think it's about a mile and a half from Mcdonald's. I've bought from him in the past and he has a good price and good product.

There are a couple sources in Montgomery...how many pounds?  How soon you need them?  if you were to be at your lake place in the next few weeks I prolly could get some and bring 'em up.  I'm up there just about every weekend these days working on the addition.

That is a very generous offer. The pecans I ordered come from Wood Pecan Company in West Montgomery, out toward Selma. Been using them for a long time, but I am looking for an alternate source closer to B'ham.
Maybe your family does not use pecans that much. Mine does. Right now, cracked pecans sell for about $3.50 per pound, with @ 50% waste, making the actual nut cost about $7.00. I use about 20 pounds per year and freeze.

That's funny.  Wood is one of the sources I was thinking of.  I don't think they do retail, just bulk cracking and shelling for wholesale sale.  Tucker and Priester are retail joints.

We have always used the man on 280 in Dadeville. They are shelled and he sells them for $9.00 a pound. We bought a 5lb. bag for about $42. They are big, fresh and very tasty.

Ditto on King Pecan on Hwy 14 near Notasulga.  I think they sell shelled 5 lbs for 25
