Proposal to end debate.

I propose thatall who oppose the HOBOs stance of "Take no stance" on ANY issue read the following, and comply with my proposal...
The HOBO by-law states the following-
"Any matters, including elections, that come before the membership may be adopted at any Annual or Special Meeting of the Association by two-thirds affirmative vote of the members present and entitled to vote, after a quorum has been duly constituted."
So my proposition is thus. Get as many people you know to join the HOBO organization. Any citizen of the US has "Public" access to the Lake, therefore has an interest either as a HO or BO. In fact, many HOBOs now are not Alabama residents.
So, build membership, and get the members who support you (either for or against) to actually show up to a meeting. Cone in force! A vote of 2/3 will force the organization to take a stance.
Otherwise, lets stop debating it and go on to other things. As someone said below, do something or do nothing, but talk alone will not change anything!

I completely agree with your post, and what you are recommending..
What is the issue to be voted upon?

There is no current issue, since I am not yet a member ;-)
Actually I would propose first a method of submitting a vote in absentia, as alot of people who want their voice heard can not be present at all meetings. This could be accomplished via numerous means, electronically (secure web site) being one. Since the bylaws do not identify all votes (or any) are anonymous I assume that it is either done by count of hands or other mechanism. If done electronically (via web site) that would give all persons the opportunity for their voice to be heard. They would have to waive the right to anonymous vote if they selected this option, and their membership number, name, or other identifying feature would be publically displayed for accountability purposes.
No proposal could be voted upon that was first introduced in the same meeting when the vote was expected to take place. The person making the proposal would have to make the proposal public (on HOBO secure website accessible only be members) at least one week prior to scheduled meeting. This would stop the possibility of "Stealth Legislation" within the organization. No possibility of meetings or votes without one week prior notice to all members.
Voting would be open during the week prior to the meeting, and the results posted during the meeting and rattified at that time.
This proposal would require an additional capability of the current web site. It should only be available to ACTIVE MEMBERS. This capability could be "donated" meaning someone do the work as a donation, or HOBO could fund the necessary capability. If I actually were to make this proposal, I would have done homework and provided cost analysis.
I think that would be my first "issue"...

Let's all meet up at Chuck's and have a beer, and put faces w/ names. I met a forum member once described as a redneck hick living in a trailer but found the member to actually live in a nice house and was extremely polite and not redneck at all. My opinion.

You would know that we send out periodic surveys to members to gain feedback on the HOBOs focus, what is important to the membership and on any matters of law which might affect the lake in the future and gauge our membership on such before taking a position on such.
So you better hurry up and join so your vote can be counted.
When are you guys heading up to River North ??

That is the adolescent behavior I keep refering too. Calling names and attempting to put others down that don't agree with you. That is the typical behavior exhibited by certain members, especially lakeman and feb. I have been called many names on this forum by simpletons who think that putting others down makes them a bigger and better person. Funny thing is, all three of the primary offenders are on the board of the HOBO. Birds of a feather flock together.

I like your opinion Hawks Nest. Too bad name calling occurs on the Forum.
Although, I have noticed an absence of such since I started ignoring offenders.
It has been my pleasure to meet numerous Forum members at a couple of HOBO meetings.

Have I met you feb? I have only met one forum member and a possible second. If not, I'm on the Blue Creek area of the lake and will certainly go out of may way to meet other forum members. I still owe one some promised beer. It may help me understand what I read here if I put a name/face with an alias.

I doubt we have met, but it is a small world.
I will be a full timer by about mid-June in Oakachoy Creek. We are almost a Lake-Ways apart.
Lets hope we can link up once I am down.

We'll have to get feb to ride his classic British car over to the Blue Creek/Harbor Point area where I stay when he's here full time. What area are you in? Feb, I"ve been spending a little $$ on my Austin Healey this spring so it will be road ready soon!

If you were to come out of Blue Creek to the point where you would take a left to go towards the Ridge Mariana, but instead of turning left go straight across, there's a little 1 tree island to the right of 2 other islands. I'm just past this set of islands. Not sure what "area" it would be called. Live off a road called Bob White.

Cool.......nice area, got a couple friends that live off Murray Rd close to you. Can't remember their take off roads, but that was only about a 10-15 min ride before the run up in gas prices. Now it may take half day.........
