Any ideas as to why two state troopers would be checking licenses and insurance at the intersection of Mullican and Old Susanna on a Friday afternoon??? Seems like a very remote place to be doing that.

They may have been in training for the big one on 280. Or, being punished for eating too many donuts.
Was stopped at night over labor Day weekend on 280 at 11 P.M. Must have been 25 in total checking, pulling cars over, tickets, etc. A mess of blue lights looked like a casino from the distance.
Seriously, it is nice to know they do check.

Would seem to reason, setting up in these out of the way places,so they could actually catch the illegal drivers that constantly drive under the influence , or with no insurance , ETC. , that use these routes trying to avoid detection

Get checked at least twice a year on 259 -- in the middle of nowhere. Judging by the number of people being held on the side of the road sometimes, it must work.

They should probably set up checkpoints every Saturday night during the summer and profile weekenders.

This is not a remote area...lots of traffic "cutting through" from 280 to 49 and vice-versa. Guess everyone is avoiding rush hour traffic in Dadeville.

Yes, the "Greater Dadeville Area Bypass" is one of the favorite haunts of the state and local officers. Also Madwind Road has had a lot of checks recently, especially at Knox Road.
There has definitely been an increase in the number if checks I have seen recently. It makes sense. Tax revenues are down everywhere and drunk drivers are the only group that can be 'targeted' without reprecusssions from angry citizens. Folks will complain if the locals set up speed traps, but nobody complains if you catch DUI's at roadblocks. I recently saw an article that stated that the nationwide average cost of a DUI is now up to 12K. That ain't peanuts folks.

Yep, Dadeville sure can be bad. Recall a time or two this year didn't make thru on one light. Thought I was in Atlanta or something.

Things do get a bit crowded during Moore's Hardware Thanksgiving Day Parade through downtown. I understand that's why we moved the county jail from the top floor of the courthouse...the inmates had the best view in town.

and having the blocks there keep the locals out of it mostly. Not bad planning on the stroopers part.
