All, I know there's been a lot of discussion on the forum about strobe lights, but maybe the below is helpful.

I was at Anchor Bay Marina today and Trooper Cartwright was there, and I recorded this video where he talks about the subject, and gives some last minute boating tips for the Fourth:

Got mine from Amazon.com for about $10.  Look under "life vest strobes".  Low power per MP, and plenty strong.  I just Velcro mine to boat hook and stick up above Bimini, so it doesn't blind me.

Boogered up this post attempt didn't I. 

Strobe lights on the back of boats.... There was/is this guy on LM with what has to be an aircraft quality white strobe on the back of his pontoon boat. He had it mounted so it didn't blind HIM. He was super slow/cautious(?) and you could not safely pass him on the way back from the July 4th fireworks display. He took away the night vision of everyone behind. He should have been arrested.

If the strobe is not clear and the intensity is "friendly", then I understand why someone would see value in them.

Safety for all..... not just yourself.

I searched local marinas before I bought on Amazon, but unfortunately no one had something remotely as good IMO.

you can buy the waterproof strobe light at caldwell electronics in alex city for 29 bucks. it will mount to your deck with 2 screws and is wired to your 12 volt acessory switch. they all usually have a piggyback spade on them for this. l use one on my boat and it is great.
