And he can pay for it.  Alabama law is you can call for a recount all you want - but you pay 100% of the tab, not some magic number pulled out of a hat, but the actual cost.

Depending on where the military vote drops if it gets closer to 1% at .5% it is automatic and Alabama picks up the tab as its would be just too close.

Would be interesting to know what percentage of the write in votes were for another Republican.  That might have been the difference as Jones got less than 50%.  As I predicted, the accusations did the trick.  Will be interesting also to see what happens in 2020 when Jones has to run again.  Will the media perform their magic again or will the GOP primary voters pick a better candidate.  One thing I know for sure, absent these allegations and the wall to wall coverage of them, Moore would have handily won.  I have no doubt.

BTW, did you see Trump's tweet about the results.  Was very gracious and well stated.  Here it is for those that missed it.

"Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!"

So what?  He was right and said so.  What is the big deal?  Honestly, I swear liberals are so engrossed in TDS that if Trump cured cancer the media would have wall to wall coverage how all the people in health care will lose their jobs, how this will contribute to overpopulation and globaloney and so on.  His tweet was very gracious and his follow up that he predicted the duplicity of the media would work was a statement of fact.

I personally feel that Moore should concede the election.  There are not going to be enough military votes to overturn the outcome.  His comments last night just disgusted me.  Just further proof he is more concerned about himself than he is about Alabama  or the country.  I agree - he should just get on his horse and ride off into the sunset.  But we both know he won't.

MartiniiMan's observation about a cure for cancer is not too far fetched from the actual attacks the mainstream media make on President Trump on a daily basis. Liberals have become so occupied with TDS that 90% of their reporting is demeaning President Trump. Can you list just one positive contribution that Democrats have made during the past year that would count toward helping "Make America Great Again"? Likewise, can you list any of the goals President Trump is working toward that you disagree with? Also, if you are not happy with returns you have gained from the record level of the stock market, why don't you donate your gains to some worthwhile charitable organization during Christmas and acknowledge that is "wealth" you would not have seen under your man Obama.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Contrary to your comments about Obama finding a cure for cancer, I would rather see Dr. Ben Carson make that discovery, but as much as I disagree with the actions of Obama during his eight year reign, it would certainly be something I would applaud him for.

I have no idea about what God's plan is for Roy Moore, but it seems clear that that it wasn't his will for Moore to go to Congress.  I don't know why you are being so nasty to me - but I did find it offensive that Roy Moore invokes God and Bible quotes because he finds himself on the losing end of an election.  Don't wave God and the Bible at my nose - like most people I have a relationship with God that is personal and private and I don't need Roy Moore - or you, to tell me what to believe.

I am very happy with the gains my investments have made. I was even happier with the gains they made under Obama, because they were proportionally bigger, and felt better because the starting point was so much lower.

I sometimes get the feeling that no one realizes that we have had a Bull market for about 105 months now. Whether you credit Trump with 11 of those months (since inauguration) or 13 (since election), his number trails Obama's (94 or 92) by a lot. It's amazing how little credit he gets for that.

Phil, I'm not sure who Hound is upset at.  She has replied to your post, but the tone appears directed at me.  My post on this thread was to Archie and not Hound.  As a matter of fact, I have not replied to one of her posts in a very long time simply because of her sensitivity and our strained relationship which goes back quite a few years.
