Yeh, I know, The Canadian Free Press has to publish this because the USA media is too scared they might be considered racist. Sorry America!
First Lady Requires More Than Twenty Attendants
Recession, Depression, What, Michelle Worry?
July 7, 2009
Dr. Paul L. Williams
"In my own life, in my own small way, I have tried to give back to this country that has given me so much," she said. "See, that's why I left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service, " Michelle Obama
No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn't perform any official duties. But this hasn't deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession. Just think Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary.
How things have changed! If you're one of the tens of millions of Americans facing certain destitution, earning less than subsistence wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart or serving up McDonald cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and then come to realize that the benefit package for these servants of Miz Michelle are the same as members of the national security and defense departments and the bill for these assorted lackeys is paid by John Q. Public:
1. $172,2000 - Sher, Susan (Chief Of Staff)
2. $140,000 - Frye, Jocelyn C. (Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Policy And Projects For The First Lady)
3. $113,000 - Rogers, Desiree G. (Special Assistant to the President and White House Social Secretary)
4. $102,000 - Johnston, Camille Y. (Special Assistant to the President and Director of Communications for the First Lady)
5. Salary ???? Winter, Melissa E. (Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief Of Staff to the First Lady)
6. $90,000 - Medina, David S. (Deputy Chief Of Staff to the First Lady)
7. $84,000 - Lelyveld, Catherine M. (Director and Press Secretary to the First Lady)
8. $75,000 - Starkey, Frances M. (Director of Scheduling and Advance for the First Lady)
9. $70,000 - Sanders, Trooper (Deputy Director of Policy and Projects for the First Lady)
10. $65,000 - Burnough, Erinn J. (Deputy Director and Deputy Social Secretary)
11. Reinstein, Joseph B. (Deputy Director and Deputy Social Secretary)
12. $62,000 - Goodman, Jennifer R. (Deputy Director of Scheduling and Events Coordinator For The First Lady)
13. $60,000 - Fitts, Alan O (Deputy Director of Advance and Trip Director for the First Lady)
14. Lewis, Dana M. (Special Assistant and Personal Aide to the First Lady)
15. $52,500 - Mustaphi, Semonti M. (Associate Director and Deputy Press Secretary To The First Lady)
16. $50,000 - Jarvis, Kristen E. (Special Assistant for Scheduling and Traveling Aide To The First Lady)
17. $45,000 - Lechtenberg, Tyler A. (Associate Director of Correspondence For The First Lady)
18. Tubman, Samantha (Deputy Associate Director, Social Office)
19. $40,000 - Boswell, Joseph J. (Executive Assistant to the Chief Of Staff to the First Lady)
20. $36,000 - Armbruster, Sally M. (Staff Assistant to the Social Secretary)
21. Bookey, Natalie (Staff Assistant)
22. Jackson, Deilia A. (Deputy Associate Director of Correspondence for the First Lady)
There has never been anyone in the White House at any time who has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady's social life. One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense, when even Hillary, only had three; Jackie Kennedy one; Laura Bush one; and prior to Mamie Eisenhower social help came from the President's own pocket.
Note: This does not include makeup artist Ingrid Grimes-Miles, 49, and "First Hairstylist" Johnny Wright, 31, both of whom travelled aboard Air Force One to Europe.

-I find this an intersting post because it seems to feed my prejudies ---which I have come to through many years of work in DC--- about national level politicians. -For a party dedicated to the working people, I find alot of national-level democrats to be liars and hypocrites about sacrifices they expect the working people to make but don't think apply to them (the politicos) personally. -For a party of free enterprise and personal/family values, I find alot of national-level Republicans to be liars and hypocrites about principlles and values they expect the small businessmen and teh rural folk back home to follow but don't think apply to them. -Now if the facts in the above post about the first lady's support are true, ---and I'm too lazy to fact check them--- then this appears to be but another example. -I really wish we could get to a valid third party. It would make these two old parties get back to the basics. But I guess I'm cynical enough to believe that eventually the power-curupts priciple would just take over again.

Maybe corruption would creep in again, but I would love to see a Third Party make a serious move on power. Maybe shake up the status quo. I have said so repeatedly, and nobody here really responds. Serious Third Party threats in recent history were George Wallace and Ross Perot. One was shot and the other was crucified by the "Press" (sarah Palin???). Both were rising in election polls when they were magically removed from the process. I suspect that today a successful Third Party Candidate must have the following credentials: 1. Majority ownership of all major media news 2. At least $10 Billion to throw away 3. A Really, Really Good Security Staff. Sure would be fun to watch though.

I think you hit the nail on the head - at the national level, there is an expectation and it doesn't seem to matter who is in power. I guess by the time they get there, they've already compromised their ethics on the way up; and of course, when you are constantly surrounded by "your" people and those syncophants that want to get close to power, it's easy to lose perspective.
As far as Michelle Obama, I think maybe you are being a little unfair to her. She does have an "official" schedule, and she does have duties. And what your billing as "her" staff is not singularly devoted to her care and feeding -- the staff actually does all the stuff that doesn't directly pertain to the President and the "business side" of the US. Things like answering the mail, coordinating invitations, working on her schedule, etc, etc are what this staff does. They also work on all the protocol stuff.

I agree the staff seems quite large. My wifey only has one to attend to here needs and he spends half his time ignoring her and posting on some Forum.
Laura Bush had the following staff. Not quite as many as Michelle, but the current First lady, as the Right likes to remind us, is married to the Messiah. That should indeed require a larger staff.
McBride, Anita B. Assistant to the president and chief of staff to the first lady $168,000.00
Harder, Cherie S. Special asistant to the president for domestic policy and director of project of the first lady $108,000.00
Niemiec, Sally M. Press secretary to the First Lady $90,000.00
Miller, Sonja M. Deputy chief of staff to the first lady $84,700.00
Ballard, Deanna M. Director of scheduling for the First Lady $75,000.00
Underwood, Carrie P. Deputy director of policy and projects for the First Lady $65,000.00
Wallace, Charity N. Director of advance for the First Lady $65,000.00
Marshall, Misty C. Director of correspondence for the first lady $59,700.00
Etter, Marisa L. Deputy director of scheduling for the First Lady $50,000.00
King, Kristin N. Deputy director of advance for the first lady $50,000.00
Lineweaver, Lindsey M. Special assistant and personal aide to the first lady $47,500.00
Rawson, Kimberly D. Executive assistant to the chief of staff to the First Lady $46,200.00
Donoghue , Tarah C. Deputy press secretary to the First Lady $43,000.00
Vogel, Campbell B. Deputy director of correspondence for the First Lady $42,500.00
