While others have to tighten their belts, there is no cut backs in the First Lady's office. I know some of this existed under previous administrations. But does show the excesses of government. A assistants need an assistant? Wow. Never knew the First Lady was so busy to need such a huge staff.

Since these are Schedule C appointments, some of these titles are bogus. Some of those "assistants" are likely secretaries and clerks. It's an amazement to me, but as I understand it, the amount of correspondence alone that is received is overwhelming. And when the first lady travels, she has a separate schedule from the President and those have to be worked.
I don't know if this staff is any larger than any other First Lady. I suspect it hasn't changed that much.
