I am interested in purchasing lake front property (with or without house or buildings) in the Blue Creek area.
My time is limited, so I really can't interview with various agents and select one that I like the best . . . . so . . . do any of you fantastic forum members have any words of wisdom to offer me?

I used John Coley for property in that area, and would use him the next hundred times if a need arose.

Make sure you get a deep water lot. There are alot of people that cry when the water is down becuase they don't have deep water. They tend to cost more but it's well worth it.

Define deep water. I have 10 feet at the end of my boathouse in the summer and none in the winter. Live here full time and it suits me fine. We have water the whole time we want to boat. Deep also means steep lot. Also means big water. Ask anyone that is on the big water how easy it is to dock their boat and keep it from banging around. Pick a private cove and get your piece of paradise and forget the problems of the "great view". Get out on the boat for a sunset cruise and enjoy the lake. Good luck with your search.

We had the cove and wanted the privacy. We sold and moved to the big water. Wouldn't change back for anything! Just a little piece of heaven is a good thing.

Get the lake place. You will be forced to compromise on the rest. Why Blue Creek? LM is really not a large community, yet, but consider all areas. MAKE the TIME to make your choice. Too important to rush it.

John Coley with Coley Real Estate.
John is a full time agent. Many say they are full time...but don't really mean it. I chose John because of recommendations from this board and I have more than pleased. Responsive, honest, hardworking and a great knowledge of the lake.
If you need any more info feel free to email me with any questions. This is an uncompensated advertisement from a happy client.

Who should be unhappy if you have a place on Lake Martin?

Are you going to retire there or just a vacation home? We made sure our lot was in Alexander City limits, to get the fire and police protection. Our homeowners insurance will be less because of it'sproximity. We also wanted quiet and protective covenants. Good luck, we will be building in the next year or so. By the way there is a lot for sale across from ours.

Good points but remember Alex City Police do cover outside the city limits (Jacksons Gap). Purchase the lot that you like the most - you can always change the house to suit your taste.

We have a house and 420' feet of waterfront property in Stillwaters that we would consider selling if you are interested in going this route. We are on a point in a cove very close to open water. Let me know and I'll send you an email address.

Thank you for all your replies.
I visit Lake Martin from Atlanta every weekend, and stay with friends. I have been cruising the lake on my Waverunner and taking pictures of all the homes and properties that have visible FOR SALE signs on them.
I had three opportunities this past weekend to tour land and homes.
I have not committed to an Agent yet, as I am trying to have some fun with exploring the area, and learning as much as I can on my own . . . but that might change.
Please keep the feedback and suggestions flowing. I really appreciate it.
