> A Lady liberal wrote a lot of letters to the White House complaining about the treatment of a captive insurgent (terrorist) being held in Guantanamo Bay. Response to her below ...
The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington, D.C. 20016
Dear Concerned Citizen:
Thank you for your recent letter roundly criticizing our treatment of the Taliban and Al Quida detainees currently being held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Our administration takes these matters seriously and your opinion was heard loud and clear here in Washington. You'll be pleased to learn that, thanks to the concerns of citizens like yourself, we are creating a new division of the Terrorist Retraining Program, to be called the "Liberals Accept Responsibility for Killers" program, or LARK for short. In accordance with the guidelines of this new program, we have decided to place one terrorist under your personal care. Your personal detainee has been selected and scheduled for transportation under heavily armed guard to your residence next Monday. Ali Mohammed Ahmed bin Mahmud (you can just call him Ahmed) is to be cared for pursuant to the standards you personally demanded in your letter of complaint. It will likely be necessary for you to hire some assistant caretakers. We will conduct weekly inspections to ensure that your standards of care for Ahmed are commensurate with those you so strongly recommended in your letter. Although Ahmed is a sociopath and extremely violent, we hope that your sensitivity to what you described as his attitudinal problem" will help him overcome these character flaws. Perhaps you are correct in describing these problems as mere cultural differences. We understand that you plan to offer counseling and home schooling. Your adopted terrorist is extremely proficient in hand-to-hand combat and can extinguish human life with such simple items as a pencil or nail clippers. We advise that you do not ask him to demonstrate these skills at your next yoga group. He is also expert at making a wide variety of explosive devices from common household products, so you may wish to keep those items locked up, unless (in your opinion) this might offend him. Ahmed will not wish to interact with you or your daughters (except sexually), since he views females as a subhuman form of property. This is a particularly sensitive subject for him and he has been known to show violent tendencies around women who fail to comply with the new dress code that he will recommend as more appropriate attire. I'm sure you will come to enjoy the anonymity offered by the burka -- over time. Just remember that it is all part of "respecting his culture and his religious beliefs" -- wasn't that how you put it?
Thanks again for your letter. We truly appreciate it when folks like you keep us informed of the proper way to do our job. You take good care of Ahmed - and remember, we'll be watching. Good luck!
Cordially, your friend, GEORGE W. BUSH

Certainly this letter should be under the "joke" thread. Obviously, it wasn't written by GWB. It's grammatical and has complete sentences - therefore, not possibly written by "W"!
However, on this topic, see below.......

There have been others that this happened to. In fact, one man was reditioned to Egypt. His wife did not know where he was and assumed he had abandoned her and their children. The reason that the existence of these practices were kept secret for so long is that the government knew that they would be reprehenisble to the American people. It's really not anything to be joked about

how you liberals that say how now that Obama has been elected we should all come together, yet you still engage in Bush bashing. I will say that your liberal man is quickly aligning with republican thinking in terms of leaving the "Bush" tax cuts in place which he said he would do away with. He has picked supply side people that would make any republican proud.
But unfortunately BO is already in hot water with his replacement senate seat. On Sunday the talk shows were asking Obama advisors about his replacement and they said he has been talking and meeting with the govenor of Illinois .... well now that the govenor was arrested by the FBI for auctioning the seat, Obama is claiming he never discussed it with the govenor. Gee who is lying?
I am sure liberals like you will dismiss this like all the other corrupt things associated with Obama that you have dismissed and turned a blind eye.

I hardly think Obama is going to risk the Presidency, which he hasn't even been inaugurated to yet, on a cheap deal like the Governor of Illiinois pulled. I doubt they talked about the Governor of Illinois basically selling Obama's Senate seat. Call me a "blind liberal" if you must, but I don't believe it. I think the Gov of Illinois was out on his own on this one.

I think when BO closes down the base at Gitmo they should send all of the detainees to Lady and Hound's houses for safe keeping. Give me a freaking break, NPR, that made me throw up in my mouth a little just trying to read that bleeding heart liberal crap rag. Maybe GF will take a few of them for ya'll also.

This particular report is from NPR, but this kind of thing has been widely reported on a lot of different media.
Don't know why y'all are so down on NPR.

I'm sure Fox News never mentioned a word about this but below are other sources. Perhaps one of them will suit your taste as a news source.

Hound, I'd bet you a cup of coffee (or a beer) that neither Spearfisher or Lamont have ever listened to NPR. Challenge to both of them: just listen for 1 hour between 7 and 9 am or 3 - 5 pm and see if you still feel the same. 90.3 or 88.7 or 89.9 or 88.3 or 91.5. Give it a try. You might actually like it and definitely will learn something about something that you did not know!

You may be right ... but he did have other questionable associations that were talked away and dismissed. I am not sure it is that out of the the question that he was giving input to the Govenor. Maybe the tactic used was not Obama's idea. The governor was even told his phone was probably tapped and he still did it .... goes to show you that corrupt politicians consider their behavior so normal they do not even realize when they are breaking the law .... or don't care.
Where I think Obama has egg on his face is that his advisors were all saying he was talking to the Govenor about who will replace him, but the decision was the govenors. After this broke, Obama denied having any conversation with the govenor. Someone has the story wrong. Not sure why BO advisors would be saying he is talking to the govenor if he was not. Makes a conservative wonder just like I am sure things Bush said made you wonder.

That "hotbed of extremism" is still doing short pieces - usually Friday mornings. She's 90 and still as entertaining as ever. What an interesting lady!!!!

But the Kerry-Bush campaign was an eye-opener. Massive positive coverage for Kerry, and when there was something negative to report about Bush it was done almost gleefully. Disgracefully partial reporting from what one would expect to be an impartial organization.
Every now and then I tune in to NPR to see if anything has changed. Same-same as ever.
Now on the way home I listen to Finebaum. At least he doesn't pretend impartiality (of course as an Auburn fan I laugh my head off at some of the Alabama fans and the sublime statements they make - and those who call in thinly veiling themselves as Auburn fans. True comedy.....)
