Today I signed up as a volunteer for a new endeavor called "Army of Women". They are looking for healthy women who might be willing to participate in different studies going on around the country. Participation is strictly voluntary for each project. An email will be sent to volunteers about upcoming/ongoing projects, outlining the requirements and each woman decides for herself if she thinks she is eligible and willing to participate in a project. Most breast cancer research projects involve women who already have the disease, so this unique endeavor is going to look at healthy women and draw comparisons between the healthy and the diseased.
I know that mostly men are on this board. But please tell your daughters, wife, mother, sister, etc about this program. It was on the news today. Information is at "www.armyofwomen.org". We need to find a cure or prevention for breast cancer in our lifetime.

I am sincerre about this. I lost the love of my life to breast cancer many years ago. She was only 28 when diagnosed with a one year old daughter. She knew she was going to die, but only prayed to live long enough that her daughter would remember her.
Rest in peace Anita. I still love you.

I am signed up as well. Thank you for the link. This is quite ironic as in mid-July I found a lump in my breast. After numerous ultrasounds, mammograms, and 6 biopsies, thank GOD it was benign. However, it scared me and my husband and we went through 3 weeks of pure hell between all the doctor visits, waiting on test results, emotions, etc. Not to mention how horrible my bandages looked with my bikini! HaHa. Breast cancer is so very scary. Ladies do those self exams. That's how I found my lump. The earlier detection, the better. I now have to get checked out every 6 months to be sure my lump has not evolved into something bad. Yours in sisterhood.
