Bloomberg estimates there are 11.5 -12 million job openings--but today more filed for unemployment -prob quit their job waiting on a new round of govt handout checks from Joe--it's insane states are continuing to pay pay claims and accepting new filings without demanding those filing show proof they have been job hunting--just check the box on line weekly and get the $$$

He figures if he can't get the votes, he'll just buy them.  It's really disgusting that able-bodied people are waiting for govenrment handouts rather than taking a job.  Heck, even fast food now pays $15-20 an hour.

First, there are NO federal benefits for unemployment.

Here are some facts about Alabama unemployment....

Benefits range from a minimum of $45 to a maximum of $275 per week.

Benefits are paid up to 52 weeks.

You must be available and able to work during each week that you wish to draw benefits.

You must make an active search for work each week that you wish to receive benefits.

Based on a 40 hour work week,  that's $6.88 per hour compared to $15 for fast food.

Goofy goofs again ! there was no mention of FEDERAL unemployment benefits on this thread--rather it addressed STATES-- and to clarify-- " YOU MUST MAKE AN ACTIVE SEARCH FOR WORK EACH WEEK THAT YOU FILE FOR BENEFITS"-HAHA-in Ala when you go on line to claim your weekly, you simply check (x) a box saying you were looking for work--there is no proof required and I'm sure no follow up by ALA Labor Dept.-Other states may require written proof you were interviewed or applied, but Al just sends a check--meanwhile 11-12.5 mill is the new esstimate of jobs available ( and we all know how accurate  GOVT estimates); While there are many who really need the benefits,  many choose to sit on the couch playing video games and check the mailbox or auto deposit weekly, despite many many many  jobs available--

Unemployment benefits and those rules not enforced are Alabama's problem. You need to complain to your State Representative.

I don't disagree there are jobs available as I drive around I see Help Wanted in every industrial park. $275 week doesn't go very far so they must be living in their cars. 428,000 new jobs were added this past month.

I am more concerned with those who received $1 million in Government Welfare and never had to pay it back.
