This is the first article I've seen that gave a real perspective of rescue efforts in Houston.

I have a friend in Houston, that works in the shipping industry.  They diverted all the big ships from Port of Houston, and sent them to New Orleans.  Problem is, her company is responsible for the bill of ladings - and she can't get to work.

It is really awful in Houston.  People with boats are going to help with the rescue efforts, people are saving the pets and they are diving cattle though Houston to get them to higher land.  Someone posted on FB that those idiots in Charlottesville are not America; but people helping people get through a crisis in Houston and the surrounding areas is what America is all about.

BTW, read an article this morning that Joel Olsteen chose not to open his mega church in Houston for those affected by the storm.  At first he tried to say tha the area around his church was flooded, but someone took a picture to show wasn't true.  Then he started doing a soft shoe about how they were making prespartions to take in people, but everyone saw through that too.  He lives in a house valued at $500M.  Goes to show you where people can be real idiot.

BTW, before you send off that big fat check to the Red Cross, remember that they pay their CEO about half a million a year, and are known for holding back money that was sent for the current disaster, in their coffers "for future disasters.  Better to find a way to send money to local charities.

Agree on Red Cross.  They are about like The Hildabitch's foundation.  Would never contribute there.
