So now that McCain has a brain tumor and is going to be involved with treatment (chemo and radiation) for the foreseeable future, he'll be one less vote on healthcare (unless he does like Gabby Gifford) and make a special appearance just to vote). I have long thought that he should retire. He's 80 years old, but too addicted to the 15 minute sound bite to give up. I respect his service to his country, and he certainly was a hero, but time comes when people need to realize that it is time to move on.
In the meantime, Jeff Sessions may be wishing he had his Senate seat back. It wouldn't surprise me to see him offer his resignation soon, because Trump has pretty well said he has lost confidence in him for recusing himself.
Trump seems like he is in a slump. I hope it is just the summer (nothing gets done in August) and that he doesn't become another do nothing President. He can't get discouraged just because things aren't going his way at the moment. Washington can be a brutal place and you have to persevere and grind things out. In my view, he's about to make a major strategic mistake in repealing Obamacare, with out offering a replacement. He needs to back away from Russia - no more meetings with Putin until the investigation is over. He's going to have to fire Sessions Deputy that appointed Mueller to the special investigation and lay down strict new parameters on what is to be investigated, because it looks now that they are getting into the Trump family finances.
