I can see why they are already blaming away.  Nate Silver, their darling of the 2012 cycle is putting the chances of a GOP takeoever of the Senate at over 70%.

I am not an Obama fan.  However, for the last 6 years, a lot of people have said the Presidency is "sinking".  If this were true, would it have sunk by now?  I mean, what boat takees 6 years to sink?  Yes, his poll numbers are low, but they still haven't reached the dire level.  He's going to finish out his term, maybe treading water, but he won't drown.

If re-elected, a presidency cannot sink in under 8 years. Unless there is a mutiny... a ship headed for the rocks… is still headed for the rocks. Our Constitution guarantees that this abomination of a president can continue to wreak havoc upon our nation unless somehow stymied by Congress. It is to that purpose that the electorate must overcome ignorance and whatever fraud may exist at the polls. The Senate must bring to a vote the myriad of bills which could not get past Harry Reid.

Why harry Reid? Because Democrats did not want their votes recorded and published… in the face of polls showing Americans are distressed of disorder and obstructionism.

If I were the first officer of this sinking ship, I would distance myself from the captain.   There is no recourse at sea. Upon peril of law, I may shoot him… yet, NO ONE may shoot this president. Thus… we suffer his remaining two years. And we pray for the distant election of a competent leader… qualified and patriotic… who will rescue our republic from the deeds of this charlatan.  Until then, we must stop him... obstruct his distructive executive orders.

But people have been saying this for 6 years now and we haven't drowned yet either.  We're treading water and we're going to keep treading water.  If the Republicans take the Senate, as predicted, we can all just expect more a bunch of splashing around, but no one is going to sink and drown.

I agree that the Senate would be better off without Harry Reid - but when we blast him into outerspace, I would like Mitch McConnell to launch with him.  These guys have been in office way too long and both of them are part of the reason that nothing gets done.  I'd throw the Speaker of the House on that same rocket add throw in Ted Cruz for good measure.  And a bunch of others whose name escape me for the moment.  It would be a fine mix of Republicans and Democrats, who I think are windbags and more interested in hearing the sound of their voices, rather than getting anything done.   And then there is Eric Holder who deserves to be the first man to colonize Mars. 

But back to your comment about a return to good leadership.  I'm scanning the horizon and I'm not seeing anyone who can fit this bill.  I'm hoping that there is a dark horse out there who is playing his cards close to his chest for the moment.  And no, I do not believe that Hilary Clinton can save the country.  Maybe there is an Independent out there, who knows how to row.
