Republican Leader Is A Loser

This guy is a few votes from becoming Senate Majority Leader. Can you believe his statement on earmarks? I find it ludicrous that he is against earmarks for everyone else. A real loser. To me, the agreement was NO MORE EARMARKS. "This is exactly what the American people said ... they did not want us to do," said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, adding that he will fight the measure in the year-end session of Congress. "I am actively working to defeat it."
But the proposed projects included in the bill were not requested only by Democrats. McConnell, in fact, included several items for his state, such as a $1.5 million wastewater project. Asked about his own projects, McConnell said they were requested before the GOP voted to ban them."
Dems are stuck with Pelosi and Reid while Republicans have Cry Baby Boehner, Earmark McConnell, and Expense Account Steele.

Earmarks will never go away. They just won't call them "earmarks". It's much ado about nothing.

There are some projects called earmarks that are good regardless of who is the sponsor. A new waste treatment plant for a small town w/o this service can lead to new industry. Field lines are bad.
A $10M project to study termites might be questionable. If tied to campaign contributions, reject.
Both parties are guilty. Any bill needs time for Congress to read before the vote. This is controlled by the majority party. Can't blame this on anyone except Harry and Nancy. Blame the Repubs starting in January.

Money not redistributed to the federal government, does not suffer the overhead expense of a round trip to Washington, lobbyist retainers, federal management and oversight, and redirection to cronies and political patronage. Water treatment plants (and other capital improvements) are best served by municipal bond issues. The interest to be paid on the bonds will certainly cost less than federal and political involvement.
With respect to Mr. Boehner – I would rather have his emotionally charged forthright expression… than a prevaricator who will not fight.
