A total of 70 tankers were easily destroyed by the Taliban/Al Qaeda during the halt on border entry by Pakistan for NATO supplies. This country is supposedly our ally in the fight against the Taliban. How many American lives have been lost due to actions of this type by Pakistan. My conclusion - you cannot remove the spots on a leopard. This country is Islamic and will NOT do anything significant in the fight against ISLAMIC terrorist.
So what do we do. General Lotowner proposes that drones be used extensively against the Taliban in both Afghanistan and Pakistan and other parts where these animals roam. Minimize the use of ground troops. We will never be successful in Nation Building.
The second opinion from General Lotowner. Issue a warning that any nation supporting Al Qaeda will be responsible for their actions and the full might of the US military will be used.
The third opinion from General Lotowner is to clamp down on Islamic areas in this country where Mosque are active in recruiting terrorist. One strike and you're shut down.
The final and last opinion from General Lotowner is to curtail visas to countries with high Islamic populations.put a stop to Visas issued to any country who does not have an active program against Al Qaeda. This includes Lebanon, Syria, Indonesia, Iran, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, etc.
It's obvious that I am no longer a General since I have been fired by His Excellency, BHO.

Pakistan is not our ally. Pakistan is a big problem, make bigger by them having nuclear weapons. We need Pakistan right now, but you will see that as we withdraw from Afghanistan, we will jettison the relationship with Pakistan. ( you will recall we did this before, once the Russians left Afghanistan)
In fairness to Pakistan, the area where Al Queda hangs out is in the "lawless" region between PK and Afghanistan. The Pakistani government has never, and does not currently have any control over the area. Additionally, Pakistan has a real problem focusing on anything other than their uneasy relationship with India. India has much more to offer the US than Pakistan does, and we have been actively courting India for quite a while now.
I don't think anyone in the national security or intelligence communities think that Pakistan is stable, reliable or logical. But, the world situation makes for strange partnerships sometime.
If General Hound were in charge, we would level the lawless area with carpet bombing and tell PK where to go. We will never "democracize" Afghanistan, so the best we can do is eliminate the problem, and take the hit for the collateral damage. (I'd also level Sudan.... I mean, who would miss it?)
