I just finished a trainning run for the 4th annual Lake Martin Peachtree Road Race 10K to be held this 4th of July. As always if anyone wants to join me in this 6.2 mile run, please let me know. The race/run will start at 6:30am on the north side of Dadeville and will finish at my house on Tessie Drive. Transportation will be provided from my house to the starting line and we will have refreshments for everyone after the race/run. The course is well marked and you should not get lost. I've won the race the last three years because no one has stepped up to join me in this race/run. All runners/walkers are welcome to join in the fun and this is a "no charge" race/run.

Hey, that gives me an idea. If I could get BigFoot to put on a football pool where I was the only participant, maybe I could win.
Good luck on your run. I admire you for having the stamina to go the 10K. Do you have fluid stations along the way? Don't try any of Maverick's Lake martin lemonade until the race is over

If I'm the only one running the race, no I do not have water stations. However, if someone joins me, then I'll put out water bottles for the other runners. I really do wish someone would join me on the run. I get lonesome out there all by myself. I'll leave the Lake Martin Lemonaid to my wife.

I suspect that if you offer an all you can eat/drink rib and beer bust afterwards, you'll have a few participants!

I will be sponsoring the first annual Little Kowaliga .0001K on the 3rd at 1200. Participants will walk or run to the frige in my garage and get a Coors light, then meet at the pontoon for a cruise of Kowaliga bay. Slots are limited.

I thought your .0001K would be from the fridge to the BGE. If Maddog was over on our side of the lake I might join him, or follow along on my 4-wheeler.
Or a better idea would be to put a treadmill on your Bennington. Maddog runs the 10K in place, and we cheer him on.

Boy the Peachtree 10k brings back great memories. Used to go over to Atlanta every year to run (??) in it. The (??) are because you could not really call it a run – you just had to shuffle your feet for about the first two miles. Did not have enough room to take a stride. The crowd was packed the complete 6.2 miles with music, cheering, drinking everywhere and the party in Piedmont Park at the end was wild. Now in old age, my 10k’s are reduced to walking 3 miles at Galleria out of the heat. But I can still remember back when…..

PC....I started running the Peachtree in '86 and did my last one after they jumped it up to 55,000 people. Too many walkers and non serious runners. I used to be in the seeded group just after the invited (elite) runners and I was only 10 to 20 yards from the starting line. I run my last Peachtree when people were still jumping into the race past the one mile mark. Now I do the Lake Martin Peachtree Road Race 10K and have a lot more fun. Although at 63, it does take me a little more time to cover the 6.2 miles. I hope you and your family have a Happy and Safe 4th of July.

Thius is a great idea. If I was in a little better shape, I would do it. Count me in for next year! Thanks

Hey Maddog
I was there with you in ’86. I still have several of the tee shirts and just checked – I have the ’86 - light blue. Don’t remember when I started but the first shirt I have is ’83. I was in a seeded group too but probably not as far up as you. My best 10k time was 42’ – 36” which put me in front of a lot of people. Still could not stride for a while though.

OK Smitty....start training now for next years race/run. I do this race/run on July 4th every year. That way you won't have to remember what day it's going to take place.

This year I have been doing so much swimming that I haven't done my lake road run at all. It is not even a 5k, but it is a killer, especially since I took out the only real flat section.
