My rheumatoid arthritis drugs have caused me significant dental problems. Been losing a tooth about every 6-8 weeks and now have jawbone damage. Went to VA med center for my appointment where they would remove a split in half tooth and remove part of jaw bone and replace it with cadaver bone. Later on get teeth implants. Well, guess what. No cadaver bone. Their credit cards to purchase supplies have been turned off. Made another appointment for end of month in hopes this gets straightened out. In a catch 22 situation. Remove tooth and they are sure I will not be able to do the graft, or wait and hope no infection. The ra drugs are immunosuppressants so infection for me can become very dangerous.

If
you lived in England, under their “single payer” (socialized medicine), your
situation would be the norm… and they are not on a slimdown. They have rationed
care AND waiting often results in death or irreversible medical conditions. Muddauber,
you are too old for any restoration*… your tooth would yanked and you would be
told to move on.
It is this very
situation we conservatives are trying to nip in the bud. Those who champion
ObamaCare, know not of that which they desire… and, being low information
voters… will bemoan it when they find out. And then, of course, it will be Bush’s
fault.
*unless you have cash to pay for a moonlight orthodontist.

I fear you are too right. I use Lake Martin Family Practice as my local doctors. Some may not realize Drs. Schuster and Durrant are Canadians who left that socialized medicine to practice in the USA. That ought to say volumes.

And you might actually check and see if either of those two are Board certified.

Yes they both are.
Of significant importance is their ability. I can say for a fact I would not be alive if not for Dr. Schuster.

I suggest that you actually verify that either of those two are. Most doctors display their certificates (with dates) in their offices. Have you ever seen them? When I first moved here, I called their office and asked. Whomever answered the phone said, "Well, I'm pretty sure". I followed up and neither doctor is. For me, that was important in choosing my doctor.....thus those two were never an option. Makes me wonder what a Board Certified doctor might have done for you but glad you have confidence in them.

Perhaps I am mistaken, but if the State of Alabama has given them a physicians license, I assume they are certified. Likewise, Med 4 ambulance from StillWaters operates its medical license under Dr. Schuster. Don't know what else they need.

To make medical decisions on what some kid answering the phone told you says more about you than them. I have to go in at least once a month for several years now. Not once have I ever been in either of their offices. They see patients in exam rooms. As far as I am concerned being board certified simply means they, or just as likely a pharmaceutical company, pays a fee and they go off on a working vacation for a few days somewhere in warm sunny climates. They are both great doctors and have been a major boost to this community providing hundreds of jobs and local medical care to thousands.
