My husband stopped by our place off of Coosa County 20 today and he said that he noticed some stakes and one that said Parcel A on it. It is almost at the end before you get to Eagles Point.
Anyone know what is going on there?

I live near there and haven't heard anything. My understanding is that Eagle's Point went bankrupt -- it is possiblly part of their property that is to be broken down and sold off?

I've been wondering about Eagle's Point (has anything sold?). That's down the road from my place and nothing has changed in 16 months. A model home was completed in 2007, and the foundations of two more started that were supposed to be completed in the spring of 2008. However the construction stopped in September 2007. The construction looks to be good quality and they have a view for miles. However they on small lots and that might be enough to make people look at larger parcels for the same asking price. Perhaps that's the problem.
I've also been curious as to whether anything has sold in Bolton Cove (there are four houses now) and also Willow Glynn where there was no home construction started as of October. From the looks of both of those developments, there doesn't seem to be much activity after the construction of model homes, roads and some amenities amenities.
You go to any of these developments and it's like a ghost town.

Bolton Cove is indeed farther along that Eagle's Point, but I agree that there doesn't appear to be anyone actually living there. I suspect that both were started during the "irrational exuberance" of a few years ago and now are suffering with everyone else.

Those houses in Bolton's Cove were built in the last 7-8 months. We rode down there not too long ago it looks like they have completely stopped working on them. I don't think any of them were sold, and I thought that maybe they put those up in anticipation of possible sales this Spring. Last summer (August) Vision landscaping that does our lawn maintence told us that they had the contract for Bolton's Cove.
We went through the Eagles Point model about a year or so ago. At that time the literature said the existing house was "sold" but I now wonder if that was just marketing. I was told that the Eagles Point builder has filed for bankruptsy. I didn't think much of the house (although it would probably have been fine for weekenders) but you can't argue with the view. What a great view. And I wish I had all that stonework that they put into the hardscape.

Eagles Point has been at a stand still and I have heard the same regarding financial situation. It is all about price. THat was too much money for a little house jammed on a hill side. I dont care how good the view is.
I was in Willow Glynn several weeks ago and there was a big house that is about half finished.
Bolton Cove has a lot better chance than Eagles Point but I would hate to have spec property in this market.

Is Willow Glynn the area where Russell took out the old lake cabins? I loved that area, it looked like lake cabin environment was meant to be

Correct, Willow Glynn is up Pike Creek. The cabins were removed on the south side of the slough for the first phase of the development. The north side of the slough still has the cabins for now. I saw a brochure on this development and they have an area planned to have cabins deep within the slough. I don't know what the houses are supposed to look like (similar or each person decides)... We asked about prices a year or so ago and they wanted $5,000 to obtain a price list. In this market that may no longer be the case. They didn't seem to want to divulge much information on pricing and availability other than the lots facing west outside of the slough were the most expensive. The ironic thing is my cousin's own the lot adjacent to the development facing west and that lot was purchased for a few hundred dollars back in the 1950s.

I was wondering if they had. We are on the little dirt road right before Eagle's Point. They had started those 3 houses August 2007 and stopped after they had the foundations poured and it sat like that for a year. I emailed the agent for the development and asked when were they going to start building again and that was in August 2008 and he said within 6 weeks and they still haven't done anything. I hate that they went bankrupt.
Thanks for the info.

The one house that was built at Eagle's Point before the island had a sold sign on it last year or the year before but I think was still being used as a model home. We saw some people there this summer with coolers and a boat but never anyone inside the house.

?? Who knows. The only thing I can add is that perhaps it was part of a private septic system? Are you talking about on the left side of the road where they have cleared trees? in the summer of 07 I had a home for sale off of Lakewood, and talked to the Eagle Point folks. At one time they were considering creating a private septic / sewer handling system that would service the 10 or so homes at Eagle Pt that they had going, plus the ones out on that point / island that is across the water from Veazey's. So maybe the stakes related to sewer / septic. I can't tell ya. Good question though. I will try to pay close attention next time I am over there.

there is a huge shared septic system in. About the time we were putting our septic system in, they had the tanks up there. I believe the system was put in by Dale Mask. (We noticed because he put in our septic system).
There is also a huge shared septic system at Boltons Cove. In both cases they are pumping uphill...
I'm not too optimistic about Bolton's Cove. The houses are right on top of one another. There isn't much water and not really much view either. Not sure what pricing point they are looking for these days. I have to say that it is really the kind of development on LM that is depresses me. It's not attractive or desirable and I'm sure the people that bought the three houses that Terry Henley built and sold are totally disgusted. I know 2 of them were for sale at one time.
I thought the Eagle's Point houses would be great if you were a weekender -- and every level has a great view. Maybe if the economy gets better someone will pick up the development and finish it off. I doubt anyone would pay the big $$$ for a single house with two poured unfinished foundations right next to it.
I thiink they could have develped Willow Glen by taking the cabins and refurbing them into small upgratded cabins, rather than razing them. We've explored that area by boat and also by car and it's quite charming. I'm not sure why there is not room on the the lake for McMansions for those that want them, but also for something simple at a reasonable price that families could afford and enjoy. That area has a nice lakey feeling and it's easy to imagine what the lake must have been like years ago.

The staked out area is on the right side of the road, across fromthe septic area. The land is basically a steep cliff between Co 20 and the dirt road that is now named Grandview.

Thanks, I have not seen that. I just pulled that letter and the $5,000 was for a private release. That was dated October 2007 before Willow Glynn went on the market.
