This is a common topic but I’ve owned several different wake/surf boats over the years and am over conscious about respecting other people’s boats, docks, and property. I just wish others did the same....especially the neighbor that recently moved into Windermere with a large SeaRay that doesn’t know how not to make a wake when driving in and out of the slough. Wish the magazine would publish how old people should drive their boats since some choose to stereotype different boats and their drivers.

In my earlier days I used to think about "old" people like that. I am here to tell you in many cases "old" people are much better boaters than their younger "immortal" counterparts.

I haven't had a chance to read the Boatus article but plan to. I agree with most of what you are saying, however, there is a lot that needs to be learned by everyone on the lake, young and old alike. I live close to the back of a fairly narrow slough with one neighbor with a large standard equipped boat and another one with a wake/surf boat. Both act like they don't know there is a 41,000 acre lake out there for everyone to enjoy but just can't "idle" out for a few hundred feet before "showering" down. There were several pretty dangerous situations involving wakes from big boats and wake/surf boats that were discussed on the forum last summer. I will try to find the "posts" and reference on the LM Forum. They offer some worthwhile information on this subject.

there is no age stereo types boating or wake boarding. you have to accept the fact that a boater who shows no respect for others are just plain A--holes. seen all of them in my part of the lake.... wakeboats, waverunners, pontoons, bass fishing. until the marine patrol does something nothing will change. been here all my life. more people, more boats, more problems!

"More People, more boats " more lake economy, more supporting businesses, wider geographic appeal, more property value.... I understand some wish it would stay the same, I however am excited to see all the new familys discovering Lake Martin.
