have been with Windstream several years here at lake; i like their service; cant get wife to give up the useless land line & rid ourselves of telemarketers//surveys;

my monthly bill with Windstream is approaching $100.00 for land line & internet;

any suggestions as to alternatives to save a few bucks ?

I Just switched from Direct TV back to Dish. Direct had gone up to $118 so I switched back and now am at $62 for two rooms with dvr. It starts with all the premium  Hannes for 3 months and free HBO for a year. Direct customer service has gone to hell since merging with AT&T. My mother-in-law has a Verizon land line for $20 month unlimited local and long distance and ported the number she has had for 40 years or so.

  If you go with dish or direct call Harrison at cablebusters. Does a great job and can get deals that some marketers can't. I've been dealing with him for over a decade.

Keep yout internet service and switch to an Ooma phone.  They give you a local number and it only costs a few dollars per month for unlimited local and long distance.  Works perfectly and your main cost is the phone, which is pretty reasonable.  Note though that when the internet is down you will not have phone service.

I am doing this. Have Troy Cable internet and internet phone. Works well. I even have my security system on it. (I know it's not the most secrure if you loose service) Also have Sony Vue for TV so my internet/phone and TV cost is very low.

Who has a land line anymore?  Too funny with that issue.   I use Troy cable but internet and tv ain't cheap, 120 per month.  I have found that the reliability is much better lately after they purchased comlink.  I have direct tv in bham, and charter for internet. Spoiled with 50 mg internet where Troy is 5mg.  Hey but it works and seems to work great!

I ditched land lines a couple of years ago....no problem. I had windstream internet for years but it was unrealiable. I have troy cable now, $45 bucks a month, and not bad. I've recently been looking at going with an unlimited data plan in my cell service and ditching the cable internet.....may try both for awhile and compare results.
