so, closing parks, driver license offices--so they save $$ on power, water bills; what happens to state workers in those areas ? If re assigned, is state really saving any $$ or is this just a ploy by Bentley ( who is having to borrow $92,000 to pay ex wife)

i'm not sure if the politcal posters look at this forum . They mostly use the off-topic forum . But , a ploy to do what exactly? Raise taxes perhaps ? And , having recently gone through a divorce and liquidation of assets , I  won't make fun of the guy for that . Furthermore  , It amuses me that  most southerners icluding Alabamians insist on giving control of public funds to the party that routinely mis -manages them the most  . No matter how badly they screw up we just keep voting for them because we want the rough , tough , aggressive image . To heck with that compassionate , intelligent junk the the so called anything goes bunch promotes .

There . That ought to stir the muck heap for you a bit .

In a previous post you stated: "Fogive me for getting involved in this political stuff at all . It won't happen again"

Have you had a change of heart?

That is probably a good thing . You obviously had nothing to contribute to the OP and just wanted to launch a personal attack .

Nothing personal about it.  If what AU says is factual your words and actions don't match up too well.

Never argue with the 7th graders.  Some posters have never left junior high school behind.

Someone is always retiring or leaving State employment.  They simply move the workers from the closed offices into the vacated positions.  Some of the Parks workers are seasonal part timers.  They won't be replaced.

I would say mismanagement of government funds is a bipartisan problem.  It seems to me that the further you get from the taxpayer the worse it gets in terms of wasting money.  The city wastes hundreds of thousands, the state wastes millions and the federal government wastes billions.  This is one reason I am for limited federal government and subsidiarity.

As for why people vote the way they do, you have to look at what their other alternative is.  If the other party puts up a viable, reasonable candidate that espouses what the voters believe in they will get their support.  But if one candidate lies (telling the voters what they want to hear) and does opposite and the other party opposes their views from the outset most voters will and do go for the former candidate.  Either way, for the most part you are going to get an unhappy outcome if you rely on government for anything beyond the basic services and infrastructure.
