Last year in the spring I commented on a post about a smell in the Parker Creek area. I alluded to the possibility of straight pipes being an issue. I was quickly ridiculed by spyke420 for even thinking such a thing. Looks like even though you have lived on the lake for 35 years you may not know the lake as well as you think.

We've been in the Parker Creek area for over 15 years and have cruised the shoreline quite a bit, but have never smelled anything. Where specifically did you notice the smell?

I did not smell  anything, it was another member. I was just making a statement, that there was a possibility, that there could be an issue in the area in relation to the smell they had. This particular conversation took place in the spring of 2012

Roger, understand. After I clicked on the link I read the single post, then later realized the whole string was there. If it was a problem it must have been transitory in nature, thus the "fish kill" theory may have been correct. We have been through that area many times, often at near idle speed just chillin', and haven't detected an odor. That would tend to mitigate against it being an unauthorized mainline from the pot to the water. Great weather this weekend!

especially in Spring, fish begin bedding in very shallow water. Given certain wind/heat conditions, you can smell the beds, and the smell is not pleasant. Early Summer also.

But then,at that same time there are lots of BBQ grills being heated for the first time since last year. That can also be a source of a strange smell.
