here's a link to a couple of videos I did of the fireworks, one last year, and one before when they were setting it up. If you want to watch them from the shore, the best thing to do is get to the Amphitheater early. If you go by boat, be careful, it does get crowded on the water, too.

If you are planning to go by boat, DON'T!!! Not until you are very familiar with your boat, the lake, huge crowds of drunk idiots, but mostly the lake at night. It is always a very dangerous situation immediately afterwards. It is very easy to gel lost on Lake Martin in broad daylight, and multiply that by all the other factors and find somewhere else to view from.

I strongly recommend you heed Lifer's warnings above. Seeing the fireworks from the water is a unique experience, but living on the Dadeville side of the lake presents even more challenging navigational hazards than we face coming from Parker Creek. If you do decide some year to come, I would recommend you leave well before the light runs out, bring a GPS that has proven itself in daylight to be accurate enough to navigate the lake, a picnic lunch, lots of liquids (pilot can have none of the adult kind), and mosquito repellent. Find a place to anchor that is close to shore, and wait to leave after the show is over until the hurryupletsgethomers have vacated the area and the water calms down. Its amazing how many rogue waves you get when thosands of boats decide to leave a constrained area at the same time. We actually motored THROUGH a wave one night in our 19 ft open bow ruabout - the ones up front who were having a good time bouncing around suddenly decided the back seat was a much better option. You must know your boat and for sure not overload it.
Glad to have you on the forum and enjoy the prettiest place in Alabama the Beautiful!

Agree! The fireworks are beautiful....but MOST important ..know the lake at night. If you do not have a clue about driving a boat on the lake at night.....DO NOT DO IT! My other suggestion...if you do not have a clue about WHERE to drive your boat at night on the lake, do not do it!
If you do not feel comfortable driving your boat on lake at night, do NOT do it! Most importantly, if you do not feel comfortable "tubing/skiing/wake boarding/etc...you know what I mean, your children on the lake, then reconsider what you are doing.
Sorry for digressing from July 4 to "overall" Sumer activities.

If you REALLY want to see it by water...Befriend some one who lives near you that has done it before..Then Buddy up with them and follow them back to your place after the crowd has left...I DO NOT Recomend leaving when the crowd takes off.....Not Fun...but, if you don't mind hanging out for about 30 min to 1hr after the show the slow leasure ride back is quite nice..especially if the moon is full.

Thanks to everyone replying. I am comfortable driving around at night but just around our cove/inlet. Close to home. Have learned the shallow spots and boueys. Dont think i would want to drive the boat (26 ft pontoon) 30 mins in a crowd. Havent quite taught myself how to anchor without spinning around.

Greetings, If you don't want to go too far, there is a private fireworks show near the Hwy 49 bridge. Last year we sat on the deck at Nicks and watched fireworks from Stillwaters and the private show.....absolutely beautiful.
