Feb gifted me with one of these last year. Mostly, I use it for mixing the dough and taking it through its first rise. But, in a pinch, I have used it to bake the loaf too. It certainly is easy to use - very intuitive. And if you like to use a bread mix, I highly recommend those from King Arthur Flour. Even if you like to make bread from scratch, they are an excellent source for ingredients and various accoutrements for baking.

For the past year or so we (and by that I mean my wife) have been grinding our own wheat for flour for our bread making.  There is a great source close to the lake - Oakview Farms.  They are just off of Redland Rd in Wetumpka :

164 Dewberry Trail

Wetumpka, AL  36093

- Their link is below.  They have all bread making supplies, the grinder and bread machine if you want to use that ( we mix and hand knead) and also the wheat berries, honey, yeast, salt, everything you need to make bread. Plus they are nice folk to boot and sell a lot of other local sourced produce and farm products.

Interestingly, my SIL gave me a basket full of their products for Christmas. I'm anxious to try them. Amazing local source. I was particularly glad to get a jar of honey. There have been articles lately saying that what you buy in the store is of such inferior quality, that it is a travesty to call it "honey".

I made these last night {polenta style) and I have to say they were just delicious. What a great local resource.
