howdy smith lake folks....
ok, so i was a little wet behind my ears. bought a dynasty elanti boat year before last and used last summer to figure out what i was doin. yay me! being self employed, i was out pretty much every afternoon. launched from smith lake marina and worked my way down just past big bridge and into cold springs area (actually made it to cold springs august / september, took me a while to work up the courage to get down that far)
was out recently and discovered developments around the dam - (actually learned where the dam was recently)
long story short, we provide exactly what you're looking for - when i'm not consulting or helping out the little business in cullman, we provide broadband to rurul and unserved areas. speeds currently around 3 meg and hope to kick it up higher with higher frequencies. run pretty much off ham towers or we put up towers ourselves.
just learning where your communities are. [family also has a lake rental place that kind of got all this started a few years ago - www.gracesretreat.com ] ; talk to me, let me know where you are, and if you need our service. we'll work with you to build out network over to your direction to get you something much better than BPL. Fortunanately, BPL is around now (it's not much better than dialup) , they took a lot of the government money we applied for (we did grants for the tarp handout and even attended meetings back in 04 when BPL was first funded to get funding ourselves ; IBEC had already gotten funding for our area). We launched in 04 - they launched in 09. Owell. Water under the bridge.
look us up if you'd like - www.cyberbroadband.net - - we've also talked a time or two to a guy over in Arley wanting to do something similar. Submit your addresses on our website so we can plot out where you are.
*waves*
nice to meet you all.
I'll be hanging around...
