Is there one website that has all of the properties for sale on Lake Martin? I can find several by individual realtor but haven't been able to find one website with all of the listings.

http://www.lakemartinhomes.net/ This site will give you an option for MLS listings. I recommend Tara Taylor for a realtor. She sold our home and found what we wanted that was not on the market within 48 hr, I hate to put the pressure on her for that kind of performance, but boy are we happy!

Mav's link is to the association's link. Most realtors have their own where their info is framed in, but listing agent is shown on both. See mine below FYI.

Also FYI some cool things are in the works for MLS searches. We have just upgraded the system, so right now realtors have the ability to search sold / active / pending / etc listings by a map search, just like on Google Maps. You can zoom in, out, draw an irregular polygon around an area, whatever. The fact that our MLS is really hard to search, especially for civilians, is something we've been trying to change. Most of the time people know the general area they want to be in, and a map search is the most intuitive. This (and other) change is the whole reason I volunteered to be on our MLS Board of Directors.

Soon we will be offering that for the public, we're waiting on our MLS provider to roll out the option. I'll post it here when it happens. Our little 'ole MLS will be among the first in the nation to have it.

john

THat sounds great we bought the lakewood home you listed, we love it but if i had not spent 5 months getting to know the lake i would have never found the place at lakewood, a map would be a great idea for the future buyer......

BTW the place is great we send every free moment there
thx

Glad you are enjoying it. That one on Lakewood was a good 'un. I have another one like it in the Real Island area now in case you know of anyone else looking.

The mapping feature promises to be a real help to the consumer, I think it will allow them to feel more comfortable searching without having to hassle so much with an agent. Don't get me wrong, obviously I feel that a GOOD agent is a tremendous help when looking. Buyers looking with agents (usually) find property faster, more cheaply, and with less "surprises." But when you are at the "just curious" stage, I am a big proponent of giving the public as much information as possible. The days of agents hoarding info, guarding the gates to the secrets of the MLS are over.

I may have said this before here, but it's kind of like picking a financial advisor based on the fact that he knows what price IBM is trading for right now. These days anyone with internet access or cable TV can tell you that. The key questions are WHY is it trading at that price, and what will it do in the future, and what will that mean to ME?

Same deal with real estate. A good agent can save you time, money, and worry. Only 5% of that effort comes from knowing MLS prices.
