We have gradually accumulated a bunch of old stuff -- dead fridge, dead dishwasher, old working but nobody-wants-it CRT TV, old window units -- and I've finally hit the breaking point. We were gonna drop all this stuff at the Central dump but we found out it has closed. We live in the Oakachoy Creek/Tate's Cove area off 20, baout 12 miles from Alex City. Where is a legal dump for items like this near our area?

And bonus question: I'd be willing to pay someone to come get all this crud and carry it away, just to avoid dragging our trailer up here from MGM and spending a nice Lake weekend driving around toting junk in the back. Anyone around here do stuff like that?

I didn't send an email but will offer that the Coosa County Dump just east of Rockford on AL 22 might be an option, although they probably won't accept a CRT TV.  I think those have to go to an electronics recycler because of some of the funky stuff they are made with.

This post and the one before it again points out that Tallapoosa County needs a landfill. As you come into the county from Highway 72 there is a sign that says "Keep Tallapoosa County Clean". HOW?  We do not have a place to take the stuff!

The recent trash day was significant.  Dumpsters were overflowing.  Taking the trash to Tallassee is a long haul and EXPENSIVE.

We have the Advanced trash container but many times it can not hold the large items we need to dispose of.

Just my two cents worth.

Could not agree more! So who and where do we contact the elected official that eats due to our tax dollars?

I agree.  There needs to be a landfill.  We don't even have access to a 1-800-Got-Junk.  But dumping things in the woods around Lake Martin isn't the answer. And AD will not pick up stuff that isn't in the dumpster.
