We are finally making a trip down to Lake Martin, we have been wanting to do this for awhile and it will finally happen. We are coming from Newnan down I85 and would like to know a good ramp to put in, hopefully with a restroom. Our tow rig is a Ford F350 crew cab dually and our tow boat is a 82 Ski Nautique so ample parking would be great. Any other pertinent info would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,
Jeff

I have not used any of the public ramps in a long time, but I am not aware of any of the public ramps with bathrooms except maybe at DARE park.
Otherwise you might try Chuck's Marina with ample parking, restrooms, Pizza place and  bar and of course a full service marina.

D.A.R.E. is definitely the best and closest public ramp with facilities, actually the only public ramp with facilities other than Wind Creek state park which is another 45 minutes drive at minimum. Chucks is all that and more but is a. Private ramp I am not sure about his parking though. I know he has restrooms but don't think he has showers like DARE park. DARE also has picnic pavilions. Either way be prepared for the best day on the water you have ever had!

Yep, I forget about that ramp.

I looked up DARE and it says it closes @ 5 PM, is this true? We will be down Saturday for the whole day, showers are not a necessity but a restroom would be a plus.

If you come down I85 then obviously the east side is closest (Up Hwy 280, exit 58).  Do you want to be on the southern portion of the lake near Chimney Rock, the dam and marinas?  If so, you could probably go to Stillwaters and put the boat in.  They may charge, not sure.  Otherwise there are a couple of marina's on Hwy 49 just south of Hwy 34 near all the restaurants.  Also should be some public access ramps down there on the east side but I've never used them.

If you want to be in the Sandy Creek area of the lake (little further north near the town of Dadeville) there are two ramps, Smith Mountain and Youngs Ferry.  Both are public access and I don't think either has restrooms.  Sandy Creek area is less crowded and there are lots of undeveloped areas but no marina so bring all the gas you will burn. There are food stores and gas stations in the area but none on the lake so you may have to drive.  Both public ramps have a dock that you can tie up to in order to make a store or gas run.  Let me know if you need directions to any of these.

So the southern area will have lots of facilities and lots of boat traffic.  Sandy Creek has less boat traffic but no on lake facilities.

StillWaters marina will not allow trailer parking, so that may not be good. Marinas on 49 may not allow launch or parking. Coming from Newnan, get off I85 at Hwy 280 exit in Opelika. Follow 280 to County Road 34, about 20 - 25 miles. Go left on 34, cross over Hwy 49, then go about 5.5 mi to public ramp on left. Very large parking, good ramp, no restroom. That ramp will put you into main channel area with large open lake area. Not far from Chimney Rock, if you want to pretend you're in the Gulf, or you can find a quiet cove to enjoy.

Maybe consider spending the night over.  Creekside Lodge is very nice.  It is where I stay during the week.  Also, they have a ramp located in the parking lot for guest.  Rooms are really clean, Lodge is only 100 ft. from the lake and service is great.  Also, it is only 22 miles from I-85 on  Hwy 49.  330-518-8189 is the phone number for Richard.  If you have kids, they can swim in the pool in the evening.  Tell Richard Steve sent ya.

Just what I was thinking Cat.  Burke Cove near Anchor Bay is another inexpensive and well kept inn that we used an awful lot before buying on the lake.  Has docking facilities and good restaurants are certainly nearby.

just go down to ext 26 on I85 and take AL 229 north. Anchor Bay has a public ramp, parking, a restroom, full service marina, store, and restaurant! Nice folks, too!

THANKS everyone for the replies!!! Looks as if the weather this weekend may put a damper on our plans. I was looking at a the map and was wondering what River North marina was like. I could just hit 280 and head up there and would be on the north end of the lake. I really have no idea what/where I want to be. We like to ride ski/foot and sit and chill.

Whatever.  Remember, I have your boat!  Jelousey will take you down.  Go sit on your GREEN EGG.  I hope it hatches.  Then you will have many little crappy (no not nashville) grills.   By the way, while you vacation, others will have the cooking contest.

Nothing there but fuel and very expensive boats for sale if you can get anybody to talk to you. From my experience if you aren't rated on Dunk and Bradstreet your not made to feel very welcome there, but that's true of all of Russell mega marinas.

I googled Anchor Bay, River North and Dare Park  from exit 58 on I-85 which is the hwy 280 exit. Its 31.9 miles to Dare, 36 miles to River North and 44.4 miles to Anchor Bay. The Dare boat ramp is open 24/7 but according to the website the beach area with restrooms close at 5. River North's store according to their website is open 9-6 on sat. Couldn't find the hours for Anchor Bay. I would suggest maybe skiing up in Sandy creek. Usually alot of boats hanging out around Youngs and Woods island which are very close to Dare. Chimney Rock is probably the best hangout with larger crowds watching people jump from the Rock. Hope this is helpful

Cat,
If you have Larry's boat maybe you could install one of your fine cooking grills on his boat.
