If any portion of the Biden infrastructure bill passes, I hope there is a grass roots effort by the residents in Blue Creek area of the lake to lobby their representatives to get $'s to replace the bridge with one that can be passed under by the majority of boats on the lake.

No need to worry, there was a gas tax passed back in the 90's that was to pay for new bridges and Hwy 49 @ Blue Creek is on the list.  I'm sure they will get around to it any day now. /sarc

I doubt Tubby can get money for the bridge. My source tells me if Jones were still in office, the bridge would be on the short list.

Interestingly I had a friend with a house on the inside and he said a lot of people that have houses there perfer it that way to keep traffic down.  Seems to me it forces a lot of boats to stay in that area rather than venture out.  Either way it seems to me a new bridge is needed there to allow boat traffic.

Doubt that boat traffic is a priority of D.O.T.

The Blue Creek bridge has one of the highest effeciency ratings of bridges on state roads. So that is a negative as to rebuilding.  Second the bussiness on the 4 quadrants would have to be encroached on the raise the bridge. You see the road would have to be raised. When roadbeds are raised the prisim area is widened so slopes on both sides are safe,( wide at bottom narrow at the top) thus limiting access to the bussinesses. Which would create a HIGH cost for said property.  Have never heard of the said bridge being on the 8 or 12 year plan to be built. But strange things do happen.

Hwy 280 bridge is interesting!  You see the pilings/abutments nearing a 100 years old. Many think the bridge was rebuilt in the mid 60's but it was only the topcap. The pilings had a saddle placed across the top for the additional lanes with no new supports. Its effency rating is less than Blue Creek bridge.

It will be very interesting as to how this Bridge will be Fixed/Replaced/ inplace or alternate location.

I was not aware ALDOT had priorities.
