Does anyone know of a franchise or individual that removes junk?  In the past, when I lived other places, there have been 1-800-Got Junk franchises that I have used.  I was wondering if there were any businesses like that here.

No, but it sounds like a great business opportunity.  Well, at least it worked out ok for Fred G. and Lamont!

What makes you think you can't just call 1-800-got-junk now?  I mean other than we are in the backwoods of Alabama so there can't be such franchise here.  You sometimes remind me if my #3 sister.  Although born and raised here she thinks that Alabama is so backwards  that we cant possibly have such things as franchises, or indoor plumbing even.

Every three months the Tallapoosa commissioners do put out dumpsters in several locations for residents to dispose of items. Last "Throw Away Day" was a month ago. I know this is not a immediate useful option but keep in mind for later times.

What make you think I haven't looked for 1-800 - got -Junk?  I have, numerous times.  I was just wondering if there is a franchise by another name that I don't know, that does the same thing.  My question has nothing to do about my thinking Alabama being backward or anything else.  It's just a question.  But yes, I have used the frachise in NJ, VA and MN and found it very convenient way to get rid of stuff - like a grill that I no longer want.  I think having someone haul junk away is far preferable to just dumping it in the woods around the lake.  Now get off my back.

If you are in Dadeville (maybe even Tallapoosa county but I'm not sure) you can place junk on one side of the road and they will pick it up, I think once a week.  All they ask is that you segregate yard waste from junk.  I learned that from one of my neighbors and we put out a pile of junk and a week later it was gone.  There are some limitations like no hazardous chemicals, waste paint, certain electronics, etc.  When they told me about it I felt very uncomfortable putting it out on the street but sure enough they came by and got it.  We put out some bad ceiling tiles and some old furniture as well as tree limbs).

That service is not offered except in AC and Dadeville City limits.  They did clean up storm debris all over the county but the county does the quarterly dumpsters.  Personally I would rather have weekly or even bi-weekly street pickup.  Good to know you are in Daeville city limits and have pickup, now I know where to dump my crap at.  Now which side of the road is it?  Just kidding, I know which side...lol.

Heh....I know what you look like and we'll be watching out for you!  BTW, saw Steve and DeeDee a couple of weeks ago.  Spent a bit of time chatting with them.  Was good to catch up with them.

Glad you posted that.  It reminds me to call Steve and set up for my boat to come in next week.

As for trash, the boss has 80 acres in AC city limits.  They do curbside for most things and the rest get buried.  Taht spot will make a very interesting archealogical dig sometime in the distant future.  It is also an animal cemetary so no telling what 'conclusions' some future scholar will come up with....lol.

I know I'm late, but this comes up once in a while so I'll post in case it helps someone.  At the intersection of 231 and Jasmine Hill in Wetumpka is a homemade sign reading "Junk Be Gone 334-387-6680".
