It seems to me that ,rather than blame the police for everything, we should look at the mayors of these cities who held back the cops and let their cities be looted and burned to the ground. If ever there was a case of malfeasance this is it! They should be impeached for dereliction of duty!

is the police unions who protect bad police officers from discipline and termination.  And if you look at large cities these unions are part of the union money laundering operation run by Democrats.  Pay officers more, make them pay union dues, use those dues to elect Democrats....rinse and repeat.  Until they abolish public sector unions nothing will change.  Union officials know they need to protect their dues paying members at all costs, otherwise why even belong to a union.  I saw unions kill the steel and coal industries in SW PA but market forces were there to counteract it.  No such counter force exists with public employee unions.

Interestingly I just read this morning that public sector unions were created by JFK, not through legislation but by executive order.  That means all it takes is a new EO and POOF they go away.  In reality we know the libs will find a like minded judge to try and stop it and tie it up in court for years.

Of course the bought and paid for dems will draft legislation to codify them in law, and of course enough RINO's will probably vote with them. The question is can they make it veto proof.  inquiring minds want to know...

Who, besides the voters, will hold them accountable?  The mayors cowered in fear and dread of being politically incorrect.  What cities need is a mayor with some backbone to say when enough is enough.  People in NYC, when crime was so high, were happy when Bloomberg came in and took the situation in hand.  He's blamed now, but the truth is his crack down worked.

I think you are off by one mayor.  Rudy Guiliani is the one that restored law and order in NYC when he took over from David Dinkins.  Bloomberg was basically a caretaker who didn't undo what Guiliani accomplished.  That is now being undone by DiBlasio.  Bloomberg gets no credit for remaking NYC.

I saw the same comment before, and I couldn’t remember Bloomberg doing anything while mayor of the NY-hood.  No mayor except Rudy Giuliano hdone anything worth mentioning in the past 50 yrs.

Okay, so I double checked and you are right.  But I believe it was Bloomberg who initiated "stop, question and frisk".  I know duing the Dem debates the other Dem's tore him up on that.

The current mayor is an idiot.

Yes, he did implement stop and frisk which worked very well in keeping crime in check.  And he also banned those big slurpees so he has that going for him.  But no doubt Little Mike was a caretaker that at least knew enough to not undo the good work done by Guiliani.  I still remember what Times Square was like under Dinkins....think a cross between Rio and Mogadishu.  Within five years of Guiliani you would have no problem taking your kids on a walk around Times Square at midnight.

Rudy sure has been quiet lately. Guess they shut him up since he sounds like a real idiot. He was sharp in his younger days and but seems to have lost it. His interviews make no sense and it's sad to see a hero of 9/11 flounder so badly as he ages.

Bloomberg was Mayor form 2002 to 2013. Long time to be a "caretaker" He was a Republican and then an Independent...never a Democrat as Mayor. He left the Demcrat party in 2001 and returned in 2018.

The real change in NYC was under Guiliani.  All Little Mike did was not to screw it up.  Try to keep up Goofy.

As for where Rudy is I remind you he was involved in defending the President from the Russia and Ukraine hoaxes.  Mission accomplished as we now know they were both fake.  Now he is back to charging clients $1,000 per hour.

Isn't Rudy working on the campaign?  I thought that is what he was doing now.

Dunno.   He has been very quiet lately since the Russia collusion and Ukraine fake impeachment fiasco's were over.
