Hey, Carter has done more since he left office than any of the others put together. No bad-mouthing Carter. He, at least, lives his values, something that is becoming pretty rare.

"No bad-mouthing Carter." Why is that hound? Because he is old? sick? Democrat? What makes him imune? Yes he has done good since leaving office. He has also never shied away from telling the world how wonderful he and his work are. It is not the cancer that it eating his brain these days, its his TDS. As long as he puts himself on the world stage to criticize 45, he is fair game. He was a joke of a POTUS and is even more pathetic today. To me he is almost as insufferable as McCain was.

Donald Trump’s comments on President Barack Obama in 2009-16?
Jimmy Carter is the poster child for decency! Can’t say the same for your hero. At 95 Carter is probably getting in the way more than helping in the Habitat build but his heart is in the right place. If Trump manages to make it to 95 do you honestly think he will be trying to still be doing something “worthy”? Not likely considering he has no interest in doing anything worthy today unless there is something in it for him!!

I've met him twice, once on a Delta flight and once at an event at the Carter Center. He is a genuinely decent guy and has done a lot of good things over the years. But he was a terrible one-term President and over the years has consistently toed the leftist line. My view is that he is not immune from a response when he enters back into the political arena. He understands the value and prominence of a former President and when he steps away from his good deeds and injects himself into current day politics he opens himself up to criticism. Claiming he has some sort of immunity from a response because he's a good guy makes zero sense to me and in my opinion is just plain wrong.
As for his advice, if I were Trump I would not take it because twitter may end up being his only way to get his message to the American people. I do wish he were more prudent with his tweets but that's obviously his call.

Agreed he was a bad President - or should we say the wrong President for his time. I see no difference in his bad-mouthing Trump as anyone else - he is an American citizen with freedom of Speech. I'm sure what he says is no worse that what Obama is probably saying to his people and Bill Clinton is saying to people that listen to him. Maybe he feels that being 95, his time is too short to say other than what he believes is true.
Yes, he is a Democrat, but unlike a lot of Democrats, he lives what he believes. I'm not going to take anything away from him just because he is a Democrat, because that would put me in the same category with the current Democrats who hisss "Republican".
Sorry Lifer, but I can't put him in the same category with McCain, and it has nothing to do with politics. McCain made an entire career based on being a prisoner of war, a fate that was hardly unique to him. He never met a war he didn't like, he didn't do much for Veterans he claimed to support, he forbid Trump from attending his funeral and laid out a huge funeral for himself which he was not entitled to. I doubt Carter's funeral will approach the show that McCain insisted on.

Time will tell but I would bet on Trump being disinvited to his funeral too. He is a democrat after all. It may not be possible as im sure he will have a state funeral, but no private event will involve Trump. I said he is almost as insufferable. McCain will always be top of that list.

Actually as a former President he is not just any ordinary citizen when he speaks. But make no mistake, I believe in free speech and he or Obama or anyone can say what they want. But none of them should be immune from a response. That is literally all I am saying.

We agree on that point. Also, for Lifer, we agree that McCain was the most insufferable.
