So the new 007 will be a black female. Anybody want to start a pool on how much money the 25th installment of James Bond films will loose?

I have to admit I have zero interest in seeing the latest 007 movies and this change is not going to help.  One would think the experience with Ghostbusters, Oceans Whatever, Capt Marvel would be enough for Hollyweird but no such luck.  They are so woke that it seems like no amount of fiscal stupidity seems to penetrate.

My guess is that they are going after a different demographic than they have in the past.  I just wish they would stop remaking movies, and come up with something new.  Last thing I went to see was the movie about Freddy Mercury from Queen.  I wanted to see the one about Elton John, but apparently it isn't playing in Alabama.  The movie theatre in Alex City caters to kids and teens.  I miss the movies, because that was one of the things I thought I would do more of in my retirement.

I used to go to the movies 2-3 times a month. Now I don't go at all. The only movies I've seen in the last 10-12 years were Dinesh Desuza (sp?) movies. I refuse to spend my money to enrich folks that despise me, look down at me and think they k ow what is best for me. Plus as you mentioned, the only thing they are making is crap. Very little acting mixed in with 2 hours of CGI effects. Classics turned into crap.

From what I have read the Freddy Mercury biopic was great because it focused on the man and his enormous talent not his sex life. The EJ trash chose to make it all about his sexual orientation and how he flaunted it.

And the Hollywood liberals will claim that the new Bond flick is great and it flopped at the box office because we are all racist, sexist mysoganists

Hound, I have to admit I was not very interested in the movie about Queen but a couple of friends watched it and gave it a thumbs up so I took the chance.  I have always liked Queen's music but was not that interested in Freddie Mercury but I saw an interview with him and he seemed more interesting and not at all focused on his sexuality.   So I watched it and other than a few scenes showing men kissing it was extremely good.  There is no sex in the movie and it provides an interesting perspective on just how talented all the members of the band were.  He was a very complex guy and didn't fixate on his sexuality.  In fact he hated all the questions and wanted to focus on the music.  I think you would enjoy the movie, especially if you like the music.  Interestingly, Freddy had a woman friend who he called the love of his life.  He had demons for sure and sadly was enticed into a world that I am not sure he really liked being part of but he couldn't help himself.  As for the Elton John movie, I will not see it because it has gay sex scenes.  Bohemian Rhapsody didn't and was very good.

As I posted below I watched Bohemian Rhapsody and if it is accurate Freddy Mercury never flaunted his sexuality and seemed to hate the questions about it.  He was a very private person and very complex.  IMO it was a really good movie and you are right about the focus not being on his sexuality although it was obviously a part of it.  What I found most interesting is that it portrayed the lifestyle as being very sad, manipulative and abnormal.  Don't know if that was what they intended but you got the sense that he simply couldn't help himself and knew how destructive it was to his soul.

I did see Bohemian Rhapsody and I liked it.  I didn't know very much about Freddy Mercury and I thought it was a good portrait of what a tortured soul he was.  It brought back memories of when I worked with a lot of gay men, when AIDS was just discovered.  All of them are dead now.

As far as the Elton John movie - I haven't seen it so can't comment on any sex scenes.  But as you may recall, he also struggled with his sexual idenity and even married once.  His life was a study in excess - at one point he was almost broke from his addictions and excesses. Yet, he never stopped turning out songs - he writes the music and his writing partner writes the words.

I feel like I have seen so many great movies over the years, I think they mostly put out trashy remakes, and special effects animations over and over.  Not to mention the fact that I know very few actresses and actors these days and they seem interchangable to me.  I actually have caught a few good, obviously made for a black audience, movies on TV.  One that comes to mind is "Soul Food".

I think it is a real shame what the movie industry has become.
