Is Carlilse's really closing?  On their Facepage it shows going out of business and items are 50% off.

That's the story going around. That should really help with downtown revitalization. /saarc OFF

Maybe the moratorium the city council initiated applied to customers. s/o

well i have to agree with the moratorium on these types of businesses for downtown; perhaps a moratorium on fast food joints on 280 should be enacted--

They are trying to impose a moritorium on less desirable rentals, such as payday loans, and quick cash places, vape places and those kinds of businesses.  I think they want to get high quality retail down there.

Amen to that.

is this well thought out?

What is the downside?  Montgomery is inundated with those payday loan and title for cash places and they always seem devoid of customers...a blight on the landscape for sure.

Not to mention that they prey on the poor with loans that will never be paid off.  I think the Downtown Alex City group are trying to cultivate a certain retail experience that doesn't include those kinds of businesses.
