Anyone else already tired of all the press these kids in Florida are getting.

Looks like the libs had every thing is readyness just waiting for an incident. All they had to do is fill in the date.

They missed salient point: in every one of these horrible incidents the shooter stopped firing the moment he received return fire!

If the media would report the incident the do not give the perp's name. Don't interview everyone who knew him and give him his moment in the sun. If this is not so then why do we have so many copy cats. I know asking the media to do something responsibly is like a letter to Santa. If this is not so then why will the media never, never report any threat someone makes to them!

Harry….My answer is hell NO. Just thank God that you did not lose a child or grandchild in cold blood to a deranged killer sporting an AR15 while they were attending school or you might well be thinking differently. It is easy to sit on the sideline and criticize.

The press they are getting will hopefully lead some changes such as outlawing bump stocks, automatic weapons and restrict size of magazines, in addition to, stricter background checks for purchases from other than licensed dealers. Florida and other states should restrict gun purchase to those over 21.

The truth is there is so much out there that restricting will probably not solve mass killings.

I support the 2nd amendment and am a gun owner.

No bump stock was used in Florida. No automatic weapons were used in Florida. He passed the current background check system. So we have to ban bump stocks and automatics and subject private citizens to more intrusive, yet ultimately useless background check. Typical knee jerk liberal reaction.

You are so fond of checking up on folks, how about checking for drug use before giving benefits to anyone? You know, like food stamps, welfare, rent/utility subsidies etc. Nah, we can't check up on any of those folks, theyre "entitled" to those legislatively granted subsidies. But we have to restrict my God given right to defend myself with the best toll available, which happens to be the AR-15.

I didn't say ban the AR15....be positive and tell us what would you do te curb mass shootings? Would you do anything or just pray some deranged person doesn't shoot up where you or a loved one is attending. It is one thing to protect your home and another when you are attending church or school.

As for welfare, I support drug tests and I also support tying tubes after 3 welfare babies. However, many on the right don't support birth control, nor, do they support right to life. They support right to BIRTH and then want to cut welfare. I guess they prefer to have kids living on the streets like India. The latest is delivering Harvest Baskets with food. Imagine the Harvests Truck getting mobbed for the food......

Yes.  And I feel sorry for them in a way, because they are emotional teenagers who are being used by the anti-gun lobby.  They are no doubt being coached on what to say, funded to march, call for sit ins, etc.  The media will be on this until The Next Big Thing and these kids will be dropped like a hot potato.  But enough is enough

BTW, heard today that Trump is banning Bump Stocks.... LOL, so very few people use them that no gun people will be upset, and the anti-gun people will feel like they have won something.  But it true fashion, they will be pushing, pushing for more.  I expect we'll see the age to buy an AR go to 21, which I doubt anyone will really argue with.

"And I feel sorry for them in a way, because they are emotional teenagers who are being used by the anti-gun lobby."

I don't know if you have any children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews. However, I wonder if you would "feel sorry in a way" if their classmates protested their being  killed by a deranged killer even if used by the anti gun lobby? I think you owe it to these kids who are protesting that it is more than emotional. Think how you would react if you had to walk over 17 bodies to get to safety and not knowing if you were next inline when the bullets were flying. Would you protest for a change?

I know I would.  I would demand that we allow people to be committed to a mental hospital, provided they have some form of due process.  I would also demand that schools have armed guards, metal detectors and classroom doord that can be bolted from the inside in case of an active shooter.  I would demand that teachers, if properly trained and screened, be allowed to have a weapon if they so choose.  I would demand that we have an honest dialouge about what is happening in our culture that is causing young people to do this.  I would include the entertainment industry that glorifies violence in movies and video games, our culture of death, the role of social media and so on.  I would demand that the real statistics of gun violence be used in every debate.  I would demand that we look at the deaths of hundereds of young black males in cities that have stringent gun cotrol laws.

What I wouldn't do is to stupidly blame an inanimate object for the actions of a mentally deranged person any more than we would stupidly call for the banning of autos because drunks or terrorists use them to kill people.  I also wouldn't call for removing firearms from law abiding citizens because of their misuse by crazies.

In essence, the govt media would never give me a minute of air time when they can use teenagers to advance their gun control agenda.

Ok here is a survivor of columbine who wants to arm teachers.  He lived through it.

Patrick Neville, who attended Columbine High School in 1999 when Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris carried out a massacre that left 15 people including the shooters dead, introduced the bill in his role as Colorado house minority leader.

“This act would allow every law-abiding citizen who holds a concealed carry permit, issued from their chief law enforcement officer, the right to carry concealed in order to defend themselves and most importantly our children from the worst-case scenarios,” said Neville, who has made the proposal every year since his 2014 election, The Washington Times reported.

I am not worried about bump stocks - they are gimmick for stupid people.  I am more worried about the idea that a accessory can be labled a machine gun.

The news was talking about last night wanting to ban bayonet lugs and barrel shrouds.  Hell my 03A3  wwII rifle could be considered to have a barrel shroud of wood almost to the tip and OMG a bayonet lug too.. damn bolt action assault rifle.

Back in the late 60's  or early 70's there was a woman in N. Y. named Mary (I forgot her last name ) who was severly mentally handicapped. Her family wished to commit her to a state mental institution. Of course, she did not wish to go so she contacted the good old ACLU. They fought her case up to the Supreme Court and got some very restrictive rulings. Now one can only be incarcerated if they are a danger to themselves or others however you would figure that out. In about two years about 70 % of mental patients were dumped on the streets. This is where most of our homeless come from today! Nice going ACLU! With friends like that..... And when they realized the disaster they caused they said, "Blame it on Regan. It happened on his watch.  Another triumph of the left!

I get that they are upset. Yes, they lived through a horrible experience.  But I don't think my first impulse would be to go on TV and make speeches, setting up a march on the Florida capital and a march on Washington.    My first impulse would be to try to get some therapy and heal.  Just like you see black mothers of son's shot by the police being used by Al Sharpton and Benjamin Crump.  Yes, they lived through something terrible, but bad things happen all the time.  Just yesterday, I lost a high school friend to non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, becasue the treatments didn't work for him.  But I don't feel compelled to hold a press conference.

Sorry to hear of the loss of an old friend. I agree nothing to protest. But, quite different than  17 "kids" being gunned down. I personally feel you are being disingenuous to compare the two sad events.

What would be your reaction if someone with an AR15 gunned down your three dogs? Would you just report it the authorities and sit back and do nothing, say nothing, and just seek therapy and heal?

But some jackwagon with a bow and arrow is ok to shoot her dogs?  Or Maybe just that he stomped them to death with steel toe boots?

Just those damn pesky AR15s that like to jump out of closets and mow down people and dogs.

Sheesh you are more arseanine then ever ( and yes I misspelled it on purpose because an arse and asinine. )

Well, I certainly wouldn't hold a press conference and plan a March on Washington or propose to ban a gun.

If anyone shot my dogs, depending on the circumstance might be looking at some "country-style" retribution.

Just can't seem to get it through people's minds that the AR does nothing without a human with an intent to kill.  Have a shotgun for home defense and it's never gone off and fired by itself.

Good!  I've been worrying that mine is going to jump out of the gun safe and start shooting.
